Anytime I try to read to him he yanks the book out of my hand and starts chewing. Within a page or two, without fail. The only time I get through a whole book is if I'm holding it up over my head, and then he's climbing on me trying to get it. I've tried giving him a toy or another book to chew on, but the only one he wants to chew on is the one I'm trying to read from.

He's 9 months old, and it seems that tons of babies his age and younger will allow themselves to be read to, if not actively enjoy it.

And toys! The only interest in any toy he's ever had is how fast he can put it in his mouth! Even the water table...those poor boats are always in his mouth. I got some wonderful pictures of him laughing at me bouncing it, but he started out trying to eat the ball.

What am I doing wrong? I feel like these are things he should sort of be doing? I understand lots of older babies still taste things, but that's ALL he does, and I'm starting to worry that something's not connecting and have no idea what to do about it.
