LO is almost 4 years old and we finally convinced him to use to his balance bike a few weeks ago. He's been doing so well with it! Maybe by the end of the summer, we can put him on a real bike. I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was an adult. It was the most embarrassing thing. I don't want my kids to have to go through that.

Ellie was riding a bike with training wheels at age 3, and has been riding a bike with no training wheels since she was almost six (three months shy of her birthday or so). She isn't very physically inclined generally, especially not for that sort of thing.

@T.H.O.U.: yeah, he was able to pedal on a trike at around 2, when his feet finally reached the pedals. He loved the trike.
@Mrs. Twine: my son is not the most adventurous so it took a year for us to convince to try the balance bike at all. I am really shocked that he is able to pick it up so quickly.

I started DD on her strider balance bike at 4.5 and wish I had known about it sooner. She almost ready for regular bike though so I plan to give it to DS when he turns 2. I've seen 2 yr olds on the strider who turn into 3 yr old bike riders!

I'm not sure yet, but since DH works in the bicycle industry I'm guessing he'll want to teach E as soon as possible. I don't ride, and I think he's embarrassed by me!

I got my daughter a small balance bike for her first birthday, but at 21 months she's still too short for it. I bet she'll pick it up this year, and we'll just move on to a larger bike and trike as she grows.

She rides her bike with training wheels at 3. Not sure when we will take the wheels off.

He has a balance bike and I suspect around christmas we will put him on the pedal bike. But we can't practice in 110+ degree weather.
