The other morning, Charlie asked for a sponge so he could wipe down the dining table. I'm thinking this will be a great first chore for him to start doing every day! He just turned four years old.
When will your LO start doing their first chore? What chore do you think they'll do?

we plan to include her in household duties as soon as she is able. Even very small children can help by bringing their plate to the counter, or even using a small broom. I figure, get them in the habit while they still think its fun to copy me!

Chloe picks up her toys every day, and feeds the cats in the morning. She's been doing this since she could walk!

About 15 months old he started feeding the dogs day and night. This was a way to be in charge of them so they treat him at the top of the hierarchy instead of the bottom. He's 2 1/2 now and still does it. Almost by himself now.

I think once she can start understanding how to pick up her toys she can help with that. Once she is around 3/4 I may have her help do some things around the house, she may even think it's fun!

LO is 18 months old and enjoys helping me vacuum - we have a central vac I use for the downstairs level so I'll leave it plugged in after I'm done and let him push it around. He actually sucked up some stuff I missed yesterday 
My sister is also buying him a mini broom and duster set for Xmas as he loves taking ours out of the closet. We always put away toys before bed and he does a great job with that (we started doing that with him about 2 months ago).

My nephew started to help set the table at 2.5, putting forks and napkins and condiments, etc while an adult took care of the plates.
Was taught to sort his laundry at 4 and does the recycling!

Setting and cleaning the dinner table. At least for him and his sister. They'll also help rake leaves. And of course, pick up their toys.

DS is 15 months old and he already helps me switch laundry and unload the dishwasher with a lot of guidance. I consider these to be prechores but hope they will morph into real help soon.

@mrbee: Oh it is absolutely a chore. We had to start after we had an unfortunate dog and baby incident and the dog had to learn a lesson. He likes feeding them and he loves his puppies.

My 18 month LO puts her books up, puts her dirty clothes in the hamper, and gives the dogs their treats.

At almost 15 months my LO puts her clothes in the hamper after bath & loves throwing trash away (we have to watch the can to make sure nothing else is thrown away....)
