I'm trying to decide when to take the next trip to see the in laws. LO2 is due in June and I will be on maternity leave until mid-October.
Not sure if waiting for four month shots would be a good idea since I think more people have colds in November and holiday travel is crazy.

Unfortunately shots won't prevent colds. 
I like not visiting on holidays.

I would much rather avoid holiday travel craziness if you can! 3.5 months should be fine and less crowded if you are worried about germs.

The first time I flew with DS was about 3.5 months and it was good. I'd say go before the holiday travel starts.

Glad I'm not alone in preferring the Sept /3.5 month trip. I have a list of reasons but I honestly wasn't sure if I was just leaning harder that way because I don't want to spend Thanksgiving with the in laws. Pregnant me is pretty selfish and has trouble evaluating things objectively. They are coming out for Christmas so we'll still be spending a holiday with them.

Age wise, I'd travel in November. But, travel logistics wise, I'd do earlier to avoid crowds and extra stress. The good news is that flu season doesn't start for 1.5-2 months after. Babies are pretty easy to fly with (under 6 months). Best wishes!

I flew with both my kids when they were about 3.5 months. Babywearing helped protect from germs and people who might want to try to go near them. In terms of flying/traveling - it was really easy since they weren't mobile and slept a lot!

We travelled to see DH's family before E had his four month shots. Both of my kids did great for the flight. We took carriers for both and wore them both in the airport. I would do it again. 
have fun and don't travel for the holiday, it makes everything so much more stressful and un-fun.

We took several long flights with my son when he was 3.5 months old and it's the easiest time we've ever had flying with him. He just slept and nursed the entire time. Go for it!
Oh and it was also in Sept. No issues with colds, just bring lots of Purell.

DD's first flight was when she was 3.5 months and she was a dream. On the way back at 4.5 months, ugh...it was bad.

I flew with a 3 month old and a 10 week old (different babies) and they didn't get sick. I just nursed them and when they fell asleep I kept the nursing cover on.

i think either of those would be fine, I went on my first solo road trip with LO (6 hours) at 3 months and that has been the easiest trip I probably ever did with him (he is 2 now!). We flew with him at 5 months and it was also relatively easy. I say under 6 months is good because they sleep a lot and you don't have to worry about any food other than milk.

I am due in August and we already have tickets booked for vacation when baby will be give or take 10wks! We also plan to travel again for Thanksgiving just 4 wks after that... But maybe we are crazy!

We traveled with LO at 7 weeks we just got 2 month shots a week early. It was fine she slept most of the flight. Then she flew about once a month after that we no problems. Good luck!

I'm also due in June (mid-month) and we're planning to fly with LO in mid-September!
