I measure out the ingredients into cups and spoons, and let the kids take turns dumping them into the mixing bowl. I also have them smell the spices before we add them, especially when it's a fun smell - ginger, cloves, cinnamon... or even something like coconut flour. Mixing the ingredients together can be hard for them though... plus it can be prone to a lot of accidents. If we're really careful and everything is supervised though, mixing can be a blast.

Their favorite part of baking though is kneading! We did it for the first time today, and the kids thought it was fresh playdoh. Didn't expect them to actually knead it properly, but they picked it up pretty quickly!

Downside though is that we lost about 10% of the dough in the process! Hope there's still enough for a gingerbread house!!
