I used to sneak out when she was younger but now I say bye. It is better than her suddenly realizing 5 minutes later that I am gone and then DH has to deal with a meltdown. We have tried it both ways and me saying goodbye works best at the moment. Have fun!

I think I would just lavish extra attention on him when you do see him this evening. If you think he will do okay with you saying goodbye, then do so. If you think he'll freak out, maybe you should sneak out. The only question is, if you do sneak out, is Wagon Sr. prepared to deal with Wagon Jr. wondering where Mama is?

We hardly ever leave her. When I leave for something I'll kiss her bye. She doesn't care when I leave

I read somewhere that it's best to say goodbye so your LO knows what's going on, where you're going, and trusts that you'll come back.

I was just thinking about posting this question!
I am starting to think that baby has a harder time if I just sneak away because whoever's watching her will say she starts looking around after a few minutes, which then leads to tears. If I say bye though she happily waves bye (mommy's not happy to wave bye though I pretend). My sister was watching her today after I said bye and said she was fine until right before we came back (right around her bed time) and she walked over to the front door (where we left from) and sat next to it and cried until she distracted her again. So she grasps that mommy has gone somewhere but in one she at least understands but if I sneak away I'm just a mystery.

I always say bye to him but I make it a quick goodbye. If he cries, it's usually only for a couple minutes. I snuck out a couple of times but then I don't want him to think I just suddenly vanished, so I stopped doing that.

I have my shoes on when my sitter comes, it's literally "hi, here are some instructions for the day, I'll be doing xyz, see you later!"

I find that works best. We had some crying spells, lasted about a year, but consistency is key!
