Do you go out of your way to introduce yourself to your new neighbors?
Do you go out of your way to introduce yourself to your new neighbors?

Well, this is the first house we've lived in, and I regret not reaching out to the neighbors more. I kinda thought *they* would come meet us, since we were new, I guess?? But other than an exchanged hello occasionally, we don't really know any And they all seem to know and hang out with each other! Lol odd couple out, I guess.

We didn't. We caught them when they were outside.... Lots of neighbors have dogs and so do we so were always out walking them.

We did and I think it was okay. We brought a little gift bag of cookies and a card with our info on it in case we needed to be contacted. My BFF did too and they have some pretty awesome neighbors. Ours are almost all retired, but I think it showed them that we were nice and responsible, despite being the ages of most of their kids. We were able to get names (I jotted them all down) and some of our neighbors welcomed us into their homes (which is always nice to check out how other people decorated/renovated their homes)!

When we find/move to our forever home we probably will!

No we didn't at the beginning but we met one of them after we had a burst pipe while we were at work and they called the fire dept to turn off the water! They are terrific! We always stop and chat now. We also went and introduced ourselves to the other neighbors as well.

We just moved into our first house and had neighbors bring over cookies! It was so nice. Us going ourselves will have to wait until spring, its icy out!

No. I lived in a rural area for several years and got very spoiled not having neighbors. I now have several extremely nosy neighbors who comment when I leave for work early or get home late or they'll ask about where we went and why if we leave for the weekend.
Our next home will have no neighbors. I can't stand the nosiness and constant surveillance!!!

No-- we are so unfriendly! But we are renting in a condo building, so I think the owners know each other more and some don't seem that friendly to renters (even though we are really good neighbors, I swear). When we buy a place we will probably be more proactive about meeting people.

Nah. We've met a few of them -- our next door neighbors are renters and they were in their back yard with their dogs so I said we should go out and say hi. Our neighbor across the back alley came by when DH was in the back yard one day right after we moved. Our busy body neighbor two doors down stopped by a few weeks after we moved in because there was a break-in on our street and she told DH, "Not for nothing, but you're new here so you could be next." She's a WHACK JOB. But I don't really go out of my way. I'm lazy and antisocial lol. But most people seem nice

We didn't but we got invited to neighborhood get togethers and got to meet almost everyone who lives in our neighborhood which was nice. We used to have separate wives and husband get-togethers but not as much lately. I think we're all just so busy with our lives.

We always try to get to know the neighbors. Almost all our neighbors have been awesome! At my parents old house the fire cheif lived right next store and next to them was the police cheif. Pretty safe place.

A few of my neighbors came up to me right away; even the trash guy and post woman and Fed Ex guy personally introduced themselves. DH moved in a couple weeks after me (job transfer took a bit long) and the neighbors stopped waiving and talking. We live on a cul de sac and wish we are all more friendly.

We've introduced ourselves to the last couple people who moved into the neighborhood, and we'll say hi if we see them, but that's the extent of our socialization w/them.

We have made friends with our neighbours beside and behind us, but we didn't go find them. We're pretty shy about stuff like that.

No...we are friendly if we see someone, but we do not usually introduce ourselves, not sure why...maybe we are too shy

We've moved a lot over the last 5 years, and we always say we're going to do better about meeting our neighbors. But we never do! We're both pretty introverted/shy, I guess. I just don't know how to comfortably strike up a convo with a stranger!
