Did you get anything from your lender stating that you paid in full? I've gotten letters and a clean title when I've paid off cars so I'm wondering if student loans work similarly.

When I paid off one of my smaller student loans, yes. I think it took a few weeks to get the letter though.

not that i recall. if i did, it wasn't anything exciting like getting the title when you pay off a car

Mine are all online and I go paperless so I got a document online for the small one that I paid off.

Nope. It was sad. LOL! I was expecting SOMETHING besides just seeing it online, but hey, they wouldn't be making money off me any more, so I can see their side too. lmbo!

Better send me a plague with balloons and poppers saying "Congrats you FINALLY paid off your loans!"

It shows in my credit report all the balances are paid and closed. Yay!

Yes, I received a letter from the Department of Education stating that my loans were paid in full {even though I was paperless at that point}.

Yep, I got letters.
My grad school sent the original promissory note I signed too.

I've paid off a few loans (hooray!) and, yes, you will receive a letter confirming the pay off. You should get it within 30 days of the payoff payment. If you don't, call the company and request one.

Yes, I got a confirmation in the mail (all bills were paperless) stating the balance was paid in full. I had to request it, though. I had this irrational fear that if I didn't get a letter stating it was paid in full, one day in the future they'd stick me w/ some outrageous balance saying I never paid. Paranoid!

I'm sure by the time I pay off our loans, paper will be obsolete and I'll get some sort of magic hogwarts tech-owl telegram alerting me that my old-timey student loan has been paid off, haha.

Yep, I think I got a letter from Sallie Mae. I'm pretty sure I saved it somewhere. It was the best feeling paying off my student loan.

@doxielove: that's totally how I feel. I'm paranoid too then!

@kjpugs: Haha, that would be awesome. Maybe a drone will deliver the letter immediately after payment is received?!

I did, from Sallie Mae, but it took FOREVER! Maybe 2 months after I sent my last payment in? I had nightmares where I would find out I still owed money!
They also sent me a refund check for like 32 cents

@cmomma17: I remember checking my account all throughout the month I paid it off. Once that letter arrived, I felt so much better.
