I always do them alone, the last time he had no idea when my period was due, so when I walked out to the living room with the card I got for him, he had no idea what was about to hit him.

Most of the time I took the HPT alone, the only time he was even in the house when I took my positive HPT (just by chance).

I've had an idea of exactly how I'm going to tell DH that we're pregnant, and it involves complete surprise. So I've taken every HPT alone, and preferably, when DH doesn't know I'm taking it. That makes it difficult...but hopefully it works out!

Since he decided to keep his decision about TTC a secret so it could be the best birthday surprise I could've wished for, I think I'll test while he's gone and make BFP a surprise for him too (he gets home about 6 hours after me - REALLY easy to do.)

Do you mean have my husband in the bathroom when I POAS? I did that part in private, but shared the results.

We haven't started TTCing yet, so I'm not sure if this will change once we do, but whenever I've taken them in the past, I just take them alone. Hubs and I never get up at the same time and I always take them first thing in the morning. I'll probably continue to do that and just tell him the results after.

@Heather - CRAZY amount of money!! I probably spent about the same though between ovulation tests and HPTs....oops!

I have always taken them alone and shared the results with him later. When I got a BFP this time around it was 5:00 a.m. and I did go into the bedroom, woke him up, and showed him the stick. My other BFP (that ended in miscarriage) I took the test by myself and then told him/showed him that night (he was at work when I took the test and I didn't want to call him).

I've taken them myself, and then either showed the stick or told the hubs the results. Never really had to test a lot. Both times I was positive.

I haven't done any yet - but asked DH what he preferred and he wants me to tell him the news in a "fun way". He doesn't want to see a pee stick, he says..that could change once he finds out though! maybe seeing will be believing. LOL.

I've done both. The first time DH was away with work. I took it earlier in the day that he was expected home and I surprised him. The second time I took the test and we checked the results together. I prefer to do it together because it was more fun both being in that "moment" together. The first time I was super excited when I told him, but didn't have that feeling you get at that first glance of a positive as he was experiencing it.

It's always first thing in the morning, and I usually get up early because I'm anxious as all get up, and/or can't wait another second to pee. So I usually take the test in our bathroom, and then I crawl back into bed and tell him what it says.

I think I would have some serious pee anxiety if I had to pee on the stick in front of him...!!!

I always test alone. Whenever we are activly trying more. I want to surprise him and do something cute to let him know he is going to be a daddy again!

I have been testing alone but I'm starting to get discouraged with all of the BFNs, so we talked this week about waiting for the results together. I think that'll be better for me going forward.

We're not TTC yet but I was curious so I asked J what he would like - to be told immediately or later in a cute way since he's very much the romantic-who-does-sweet-things in our relationship- and he straight up laughed and said, "Are you kidding? I'll be holding your hand while you pee!" lol Good thing we're not bashful?

Most of the 10 months of TTC I took by myself, at first I wanted to surprise my husband, later on I just got tired of feeling like I disappointed him (nothing he said, all me feeling this way).
The only time he was shoving sticks at me to pee on was during my chemical pregnancy a year ago. We got a bunch of very faint lines, not enough to convince either of us, then AF came a couple of days later.
When we got the BFP, he was in the shower and that 5 minutes felt live FOREVER to tell him. A re-run of The Office where Jim & Pam found out they were pregnant was on, so at the end I told him, "on that note..." and showed him the stick.

I take them alone too. I am slightly neurotic if I am a day or so late so getting him worked up too isn't going to get us anywhere. Plus when we do get a BFP I will be able to surprise him.
