I was at the zoo and another mom with a toddler girl approached and started chatting. I asked how old her LO was and she responded, " She is 1 year old, a young 1." I knew exactly what she meant when she said it; her LO looked and acted like a younger baby. I loved that description of LOs that aren't breaking any milestone races in size or behavior
My LO isn't 'behind' but has always been petite and takes her time with every stinkin' milestone (except reciprocal play, weird, right?) When we go to the playground, I see sturdy looking toddlers weaving around and even climbing onto the equipment while she and I are still rocking the baby swing. At daycare she is smaller than a particularly large 8 month old and a 14 month old literally runs circles around her. I used to be shocked that the goliath of a toddler who is climbing the jungle gym is the same age as my still little, still babbling, baby faced 15 month LO, but now I expect it.
Anyone else have/had a LO who is 'young' for their age?
