Last weekend. We bought a generic filter from Home Depot and our water tasted like metal and chemicals (we had only had it in for 2 months). I'll always buy them off of amazon now.

@snowjewelz: Manufacturers tell you every 6 months, I think. But the guy that put ours in told us we can get away with doing it every year. I just reset it once.
And the light just came back on.

You're talking about a filter for if your fridge has a water line? I hope there's not any other filter for the fridge b/c we've never changed anything!

@HLK208: eek I was going to buy a generic compatible one! But DH told me it wasn't worth it to save the $10. The samsung filters are $50 on their site and I paid $32 on Amazon!

@rahlyrah: that actually has nothing to do with the filter. It's how "open" your water line is. There's a way to release it more to allow a faster water flow. The tech that installed our fridge told us about it. We didn't' have the water line yet at installation so he told DH how to do it. I can ask DH if you want! -
