@justjules: That makes me sad that they're clearly still active on the web but somehow are completing avoiding addressing us. We'd be totally understanding to why they'd rather move on from here; we just want to know! I was also hoping that maybe a web savvy bee would want to take over since there is possibly a profit to be made from ads vs the time/money it takes to maintain the site.

@snowjewelz: That's a good point. We don't want to wait so long and the site is completely gone and we have no way to contact each other.

@LadyDi: @snowjewelz: yes that is the weirdest part for me. I feel like everyone has been really understanding but to see them be active in another social media platform (she has pinned today while we are having this convo) but completely ignore this site just seems.... off. It's clearly not a matter of not having internet or time since we can see you posting elsewhere.

@justjules: I've been trying soo hard to give them all the benefit of the doubts in the world too b/c over the years I feel like I "know" them and they are NOT the kind of people that would ghost a whole community, it really is so so odd...

@justjules: maybe they have discovered that being involved or not involved doesnt affect their bottom line (revenue from ads). So they are just lazy?

Thanks to all who are taking the initiative on this - I've never used Reddit, but prefer it to a facebook page for the anonymity. I've loved this community, and hate to see what's happening to this site.

I'm tempted to post on the Facebook page and see if that gets a response? But I'm having trouble mustering the energy to say nice things about ghosting us.

This makes me so sad. HB has been a constant since I became a parent 6 years ago and it's somehow hurtful to see it fall by the wayside.
@kiddosc: I'm not a member of the HB FB page, but if you (or someone else) try reaching out there, maybe you could just say something along the lines of "Hi Bees, a bunch of people in the community have been wondering about the future of Hellobee. Could you please update us?" That way it's non-accusatory.

For me both Reddit and facebook lack a lot of the organization we have here in terms of how the posts are set up. And all the different boards we have.
pear / 1809 posts
@Mrsbells: I agree. I'm not familiar with Reddit, but I like having posts organized by topics, so you can easily search for what you're looking for. I don't want to have one long post that everyone's commenting on.

This makes me so sad. I'm an infrequent poster but read the blog posts and the boards all the time--it's a rare sane slice of parenting on the internet.
I just "liked" hellobee on fb for the first time and am confused because it looks like there are fb shares--are those shared by Mrs. Bee?

@aprild: so apparently you can use tags pretty easily. When you write a new post you just add a tag. Some subs demand you add a tag before you can start a thread. And then you can filter by tags. But you are right. The level of filtering and sorting would be hard to replicate elsewhere.

@aprild: @Mrsbells: Good point. there's got to be something else that suits our needs better. Google groups?

I haven't used it in 20 years...but LiveJournal community posts used to function a lot like the way this site does.

I remembered my LiveJournal password. Communities there really do work A LOT like the hellobee boards.

I wonder if they sold hellobee? And that's why they are not engaging with us?

@Adira: You have been such a great cheerleader for all of us and make HB what I will miss (if it goes away)!
That's so frustrating that bloggers have been turning in content and it is just not posted.
I'm up for moving but like others have expressed would rather just see HB be maintained.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
I posted a response to one of the articles on the Facebook page requesting an update on the status of the website.

I don't really miss the blog posts for the content; I didn't read them very often anyway. Frequent updates, however, did seem to drive traffic to this site. The boards used to move so quickly that it was hard to keep up! Now things move so slowly that I find it hard to be motivated to check in and participate as regularly as I used to.

@Happygal: I agree that the slow moving boards are the bigger issue. There used to be hostesses to start threads when things were slow and post-a-thons to encourage more interaction with the site. I came from weddingbee right when this site started, so I'm not sure what brought others here, but whatever it is is lacking and new members seem few and far between.

I have been wondering too. I would like to write a couple if they will be posted.
