My girl is walking and I haven't really gotten her shoes... My son is now trying to walk. I want to get them soft sole shoes because it seems easier to walk in.... I put hard sole on my daughter and she walked SO funny... Like my dog when I put booties on her lol. Anyway, I need it for their 1-year party.... Is it appropriate or are they only indoor/home/crib shoes? Can it be worn outside or is it not meant to last?

I have found that the soft sole shoes do pretty well as long as it isn't wet out. Mud, snow and slush would do them in pretty quickly but walking on sidewalks or through stores they do just fine. They grow out of them so quickly that I don't think I have ever seen a worn out pair of early walker shoes!

Have you thought about pediped? We had robeez soft soles and used them occasionally outdoors, but it really depends on where. If there might be pokey hurtful stuff, the "true" soft soles just aren't protective enough. On grass, a clean sidewalk, or something like that, they are just fine, even for outdoors. I have found the original pedipeds to be a good compromise between bare feet and protection for a new walker. Lowly just started walking two days ago, and she doesn't have any difference in how well she walks with pedipeds on or bare feet. We go bare at home, but when we are out she wears shoes. Hope that helps!

I like the smaller by SKR shoes, but I don't find the soles to be quite as flexible. They are more like a transitional shoe to me. But they are very cute, and they do fit the guidelines for proper foot development.

M wore livie and luca soft soles out until she was .. 16 months old or so. Once she got comfortable walking we got her crocs!

I had both Robeez soft sole and See Kai Run Smaller (soft sole with two rubber pads at bottom) and love the SKR's! Robeez was great for home but I felt too thin for the cement sidewalks in NYC. DD loves her SKR smaller shows and wears the both indoor and outdoor.

There were some good soft soles at Payless that have a "sole". We mostly had him in the cloth until he went to preschool and out playing a lot. We also like the Nike SMS shoes.

We had a nice pair of pedipeds with soft soles that we used before LO was 1. Once she was 1 we needed to get "closed toe hard sole" shoes per daycare so we got a great pair of stride rite SRTs. They are designed for early walkers. It is worth it to go try them on as our LO walked much better in some than others!

p.s. i didn't really answer your question: we wore them outside in the grass and on sidewalks but tried to avoid sand and mud. They are great!
