I want a really comfy, plush glider and/or rocker for Little Peach's nursery. I've started looking around and I'm kind of shocked by how expensive gliders/rockers are! I want one that looks like an easy chair, not the kind that looks like a wood chair with cushions. I've butt tested the ones at Ikea and found them all horribly uncomfortable.
DH's parents will likely be buying it for us but I still don't want to take advantage of their offer.
Where did everyone get theirs?

I was shocked at finding one at Babies R Us that was comfy and had back support for both DH and me! We liked being able to try it in the store, both before and after the baby was born, and I found a 20% off coupon that made it really reasonable.

I got ours on Craigslist. My mom insisted on buying us one but I wasn't convinced we would use it - and I was horrified by the prices & order times in stores. There are so many on Craigslist I still felt like I got to be selective.

We got ours from Albee Baby, and I definitely don't recommend them as a store. The whole ordering process was a debacle and I ended up getting a "loaner chair", then my chair in the wrong color, then the right chair finally....6 months after the birth of LO. At that point, we got the chair plus our money back, which was the only good part.
The chair however, I love! It's a Dutailier from the modern upholstered collection. Ours is in gray without contrast piping--

@Meowkers: I've always wondered about the ikea rockers and thought they looked horribly uncomfortable!

Same as @matador84: it was expensive but we used a BBB coupon and I LOVE the chair. If I could do it again I would have gotten a cheaper crib but still gotten the expensive rocker. At 21 months we still spend some of our best moments reading, snuggling and singing in that chair and I don't see that changing any time soon. I'm so glad it's so comfortable!

Babies R Us. On sale + coupon. My parents bought the chair, and my in-laws bought the ottoman. I think it was $400 for the chair & $150 for the ottoman.

@MrsF: Oooh, it's good to know that you can use BBB coupons towards a glider! I haven't gotten a 20% coupon yet, but was wondering if it would have a long list of exclusions!

We got the winged back rocker from Pottery Barn kids. Definitely expensive but we LOVE it. My husband is really tall (6'6") and we struggled to find something with a tall back that was still pretty. My favorite part about the PBK kids chair is that we can convert it from a rocker to a regular chair once we no longer need a rocker.

@MamaMoose: that's the one I've been salivating over. But it's so darn expensive. There's just no way I can ask for that. Nor can I bring myself to purchase that myself. Our gorgeous living room couches cost as much as that one single chair.

I wanted the pretty plush kind but we just did not have any room for one. I really liked a little castle one. But I actually found the wooden frame kind with cushions was a lot more comfortable for me anyway, even if it's totally not as nice looking. We got one of the cheapest dutalier ones at bbb, with coupon (they only take 10% off for dutalier). They also had it in stock- the little castle one was goin to take several months to come in.

@Meowkers: Yeah it was a major splurge for us, but totally worth it. I really really didn't want to spend that much and we search high and low for something we liked as much and just couldn't ever find it. My Bro and SIL did the same thing! What about offereing to split the cose with your ILs?

I went to BuyBuyBaby to test sit on them, found the one I liked then browsed Craigslist for one. So much cheaper. I just looked for clean/pristine looking ones that were till in excellent shape.
I have a Dutailier.

@MamaMoose: I wish they were the sort of people who would discuss splitting the cost but they're not. If I mention the chair, they'll just go out and buy it but I would never feel comfortable accepting it, ( the relationship dynamics are sort of complicated and they make me uncomfortable accepting something of this cost.)

Buy buy baby little castle glider/recliner here too! After coupon it was maybe $600-700? But the amount of time my butts been in that chair, it was so worth it! I've even napped in it with her.

It doesn't scream "nursery" or "cozy" but we love it anyway. I spent a lot of time while pregnant reclined in that chair!

We got ours at a local baby store. I'm pretty tall, so I wanted one that I could get up from smoothly. It was pretty pricey, but totally worth it. There were many times during the early days that I spent hours in that chair because LO would only sleep on me.
