I have a nice print that I need to get framed. In the past I've just gone to Michael's, but I can't decide if I should go back there, go to a local frame shop, or try an online service like Framebridge. Where do you usually get your framing done?

I've had lots of things done with Michaels and Hobby Lobby in the past, but I switched to a local shop in the past few years. They just have so much more choice, and they really know what looks good. I always have the same 2 people I work with and they understand the materials and how best to use them. It's just a bit more of a custom experience and now that I purchase more expensive pieces, I want to know it'll be in good hands. I don't think it's a huge difference in price.

@BananaPancakes: Thanks! We are finally at the point where we are starting to buy nicer things, so I want the job done well. Michael's never seemed that inexpensive, even with a coupon, but I wasn't sure if a local shop would be outrageously priced.

I don't have an option like Michaels. The last few times we had framing done, we went to a professional. The prices made me cry, especially for large pieces, but the results are perfect.

@Pancakes: I've been pricing the big box stores and hobby lobby is about 20-25% cheaper than michaels...just fyi if you end up sticking w the bigger store!

Is the piece a standard size? I use a local shop for custom framing, but they are pricy. Sometimes they have coupons, but not often.
