Let's say your home is a wreck. Like, things everywhere. Where do you start? How do you not get overwhelmed?
ETA: of course, this is totally hypothetical. Er, not really! Help me out ladies!

pick one room. put every stray thing on the bed (or sofa, or whatever) and go from there.

Definitely what @sloaneandpuffy said. For me, that room is usually the kitchen or the bedroom.

Start with one room and then work towards them all.

The first thing I do is fix the beds & then hit the dishes/kitchen. I know those are two totally different rooms but they always make me see an immediate difference so its encouraging to continue! Then I hit the living room, and then our bedroom & can use the bed for stray things like @sloaneandpuffy!

I start in the room with the least mess, finish and shut the door, move to the next, shut the door and I always work top down- Dust, surfaces, floor.

Shut the door, that's how I deal.
No seriously...I make a long list and cross things off, it makes me feel like I accomplished something even though I might not be able to see progress in the room itself.

I make the beds, then dishes and cleansing counter tops. Next up, I work on one project a day. Like, shredding old bills, filing papers, washing the sheets, etc. I also try to do one load of laundry a day.

Vacuuming makes everything better to begin with for me! Then, make the beds, kitchen, clean all table/surfaces and mirrors, take out the trash.

I make the needs first (even though I don't normally bother, it just feels like a big clean shot when it's fine) then I gather laundry and toss in a load. Next is collect any stray dishes Anne unload/load the dishwasher (um, I don't bother to rinse or anything if I am swamped, I just use the strongest setting.) Then kitchen counters and floor. Laundry switched when ready and dishwasher again. If I am having a hard time getting going I set a timer for 15 minutes and then take a 10 minute break.

I always start in the living room, easiest to pick up and the focal point of our house, once that looks clean I am modivated to tackle the kitchen..which is my least favorite one to pick up but the most important!

I start in one of the smaller rooms. Bedroom or bathroom...i always save the family room/kitchen for last because it's the most overwhelming. But then i also feel like "the rest of the house is clean, though...so i HAVE to do this one...."
