Where do you think you will live for the rest of your life?

Military here, so our forever home is a long ways away. I'm not sure where we'll end up. If I had to choose today it would be Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, AL.

We will probably stay here in the Chicago area for the foreseeable future, as long as my small company continues to grow. The only reason I can think of moving would be to be closer to my mom, but I'd prefer she move here if necessary. The job market in Ohio is not great.

If money and my family weren't a factor, I'd love to move to Northern California near DH's family.

We are quite settled in Sydney, Australia now. My family is all back in Canada (scattered between Toronto and Ottawa) so I have some longing to go back there, but I just love the lifestyle here so much and I make SO much more money teaching here than I would in Canada (as does my husband at his job). So, I'm not sure where we will end up. I would be happy here or in Canada.

I was born an raised in St Louis, where we currently live. We lived in England for a while while DH was in the military but came back when he got out. I'd guess we'll probably stay here, at least until my parents are gone.

But who knows. DH is using his GI Bill right now and with what he wants to do, it's entirely possible we'll end up on one of the coasts.

If I had to guess right now, we would retire in Europe.

I was born and raised in So Cal and moved to HI about 12 years ago. I dont think we will ever move away from here. I would like to go back to the mainland for a few years but know that isn't in the cards for us.

No idea! I was born and raised in western PA, moved around a whole bunch after college and have been really happy in western NY for the last 4 years. But, I don't know what the job market will look like when I finish my PhD in a few years. We've always said that if I don't get a teaching gig that we would move to DC so I could work for the government. It sounds harder now post-kids, but that may end up being what we do. Who knows.

I was born in China, we immigrated to NYC when I was 3, then I moved upstate for college. And pretty much have been here ever since. Well definitely be here until our girls go graduate high school. We plan to stay here after as wel but I'm not sure if we'll retire here? Really depends on what the girls do! I can see ourselves moving to be closer to our girls if they move away and/or grandkids.

Really tough to say. Honestly, probably MA (where DH and I were born and live now). Our families all live here so it's hard to find a good reason to move. However, I like to tell myself that we will retire someplace warmer.

Probably here in NY, in this town, till at least our kids graduate from college! Then we'll see!

@hilsy85: I'm so sad that you are sad about this Which state are you ending up in?

We will be in Nebraska forever, which is where I've always been. We will soon be building our forever home on DH's family land which he will farm until retirement. Hopefully after retirement we can get a lake house for some weekends away.

We are here for the forseeable future, but have the goal of purchasing a property in my husband's home country in the near-ish future (10 years or so). Luckily property values are cheap there--a nice house (nicer than we could ever afford here) is only like $150k. The city we want to buy in constantly makes the top-10 places to retire lists, due to low cost-of-living and perfect weather (70s year-round).

We love Boston and never want to leave.. but I feel like eventually we will be priced out. We rent and our rent is very affordable... but we don't want to rent forever.
