Our pediatrician is about 20 minutes from home so it's kind of inconvenient to get there just for the flu clinic. Where do you take your children for their flu shots?

Not sure if they carry one suitable for children, but my husband got his at CVS and it was covered by insurance

Pediatrician. I don't think you can take a child under 6 or 7 to a drug store like CVS or Walgreens.

Pediatrician. I called Target since they do them for free with our insurance. But they won't do them till 4 and then you have to have a prescription till 13 anyway.

We've always gotten them at the pediatrician when she goes in for a well-baby visit anyway, but I assume as she gets older and doesn't have well-child appointments that coincide with fall, we'll still get them there...

It varies by state but here in Georgia they require a prescription until 13 and our Kroger pharmacy said they really won't do them at all for toddlers/preschoolers. So we made the inconvenient trek to the pediatrician as well.

Our pediatrician does flu shot clinics. But we only live like 6 minutes away, so it's super easy.

Pediatrician. We are lucky because she's an October kid so her annual exam is always perfect timing to get the flu shot.

Thanks everyone. I ended up making an appointment with her pediatrician for one of their flu clinics.

At our old practice, they did a drive up clinic...literally you didn't even get out of the car!
Now they do special appointments on Sundays.

A flu shot clinic at the pediatrician. Not very convenient but non of the pharmacies do them for young kids.

Doctor; it's only a 5 minute drive, plus currently she still gets wellness appointments every 3 months so we did it the last time she went. But every flu season they have walk in's so it's very convenient.

Kaiser is awesome that you just walk in at any hospital/clinic during flu season and just get it within a few minutes if there's no wait time.

At our peds office. They'll do me and the three kids at the same time.

I've always just gone to the pediatrician's, who was 3 blocks away. Now it's 20 minutes away and way less convenient. Plus we just moved and aren't established with the new doctor and I forgot the baby needs a second dose. So I sent their records and am hoping the new ped will do her second dose before her next regular appt...
@oliviaoblivia: that's great that they do you too!
@looch: drive up sounds nice in theory, but it seems kind of cruel to give a kid who is strapped into a car seat a shot. Even though until this year I always had to hold my toddler down anyway.

@Foodnerd81: I think they have a demand for it, which is why they do it. I believe there was a minimum age for it, and if the kid freaked out, no harm done. They could get it done in the office.
They also had walk in clinic, so there was always a choice.

@oliviaoblivia: same, me and the kids all go to the ped for the flu shot. This year we are also combining their annual checkups even though it will be 1 and 2 months early. They are loose about things like that though.
