Just curious what the norm is out there. If you're comfortable sharing where you're from that would be helpful too!
In Alberta, LO gets her shots at a community health center by an RN. She also goes to her Pediatrician for well baby visits, but they don't do the shots.

@NurseMommy: Same setup as yours here in Portugal! But in NY, her pedi's office did it all.

I voted "other" because our system in the UK is quite different to yours. We don't have a specific pediatrician - all our health concerns (the baby, adults etc) are dealt with by the GP (general practitioner = family doctor) and if the baby has a serious health concern (like a heart murmur or something) you are referred to pediatricians working at the hospital. Routine wellness checks (at newborn, 6 months and 1 year) are undertaken by a "health visitor" (a nurse) who visits you at home.
As for vaccines, they are administered at our local GP practice by the practice nurse.

She sees her ped for well baby exams and a nurse gives her shots while we're there.

In Ontario they get immunized at their well baby visits. We don't have a ped though. DD goes to the same family doc as DH and me.

@illumina: Do you find the difference really striking, too? When you read on here that people asked their pediatrician about their baby's milk intake or whether they should be rolling over by now etc. Your baby has to be very ill for you to get near a ped here and, even then, you'd be lucky to actually see one and not a student. Here, Dr Google is your best bet because the health visitors are clueless and getting an appointment with the GP is near on impossible!

@Cherrybee: I am jealous of those who live in countries where their LO's have a ped! We can get an appt with our GP next day if we want, but his usual diagnosis is "don't worry, it'll be ok". I wonder if GPs here actually have any specific infant training--one of my Mum friends is a GP and she's admitted that half the time she doesn't have a clue either. Don't even get me started on heath visitors!!! Not wanting to blow my own trumpet but sometimes I think I know better just from all of my research and HB!
