My almost 9 month old LO usually naps on our bed while I watch her. I want to put her in her crib for daytime naps but DH thinks she should only sleep there at night because it might mess with her routine. She won't nap in the Pack N Play and our swing is packed up!
Does your LO nap in the crib?

Up until 8 months my LO refused to nap in her crib. Then all of a sudden she was a great crib napper! She's 14 months today and I try to only let her nap in the crib, unless of course we're traveling or once in a while we're out in the afternoon and I'll let her nap in the car.

DD has always napped in her crib except for when she was really young and we used the swing for a few weeks.

M. naps like a charm in her crib. 8:30-10:30 am and 1 pm to 3 pm. Sometimes she'll nap from 5-6 too.
Lala naps in our bed.

Cobi naps in his crib and that's where he sleeps best. He takes awful (or no) naps in the car. I try to by home for his naps, or be somewhere where I can set up the pnp

Yup, crib. Or car if we're on the road (or if, for some reason, he refuses a nap sometimes I'll plunk him in the car in desperation).

He prefers to nap in his crib and will stay asleep longer in there. He will also nap in the pack n' play, car seat, or stroller, though.

In his crib. He hasn't slept in his stroller in over a year and he barely ever slept in his car seat.

@autumnlove - how old is she? our DD napped in our bed on her belly until she started to be more mobile, then we transitioned her to our crib and it was a pretty smooth transition since her nap routine was already solidly established.

@autumnlove - oops n/m, just realized you already said she's 9-months. do you just sit there and make sure she doesn't roll off or do you have something in place to prevent that?
i don't think it will hurt to try to move her if she's regularly going down for naps pretty easily.

Usually in her crib but she's a bad napper so sometimes I have to take her for a walk in her stroller to get her to nap.

Once we got her napping in her crib, she'll only nap in her crib. If we're out, she'll fall asleep in the ergo or the car seat.

My LO takes naps in his crib and occasionally in the car when we're out. He doesn't have a problem distinguishing between nap and bedtime.

she takes afternoon naps in the crib, but is such a monster for her morning naps that I've been wearing her in the ergo again.

@caffeinated: I think he is just terrified that her good sleeping at night will get messed up? He wants her to associate crib sleeping with the bath and pajama routine before we put her down at night.

@autumnlove: My LO used to only sleep in the crib at night but now that he seems to understand the bedtime routine, he will nap in the crib. I put him in wide awake (but know it's about time for him to sleep) and now he falls right asleep for naps! Not so much at night yet but looks like the night training at least helped with naps! Every small blessing counts.

@autumnlove: I think by 9 months you've already established a good routine, so maybe try putting her in the crib for the morning nap and see how that goes? I totally understand fearing messing up a good thing, especially when you've worked so hard at getting it to this stage. I agree with @pastemoo, every small blessing counts!

@Coco Bee: V is the same way! She prefers to nap in her crib or pnp if we are out. She also hates napping in the car!!! So bizarre cause before she was born, I was told babies love napping in cars. I dread long rides now cause I have to pray she sleeps or deal with screaming. Do they outgrow this?

@littleveesmommy: well he is 7 months and has hated the car ever since he grew out of his nb sleepy stage (by about two weeks). If I plan to be in the car longer than 30 minutes, I never go alone, and I pump during the beginning of the car ride so that I can feed him in the car. That will calm him down, and sometimes put him to sleep.
Yeah, it is crazy!! Everyone always told me I'd probably have to drive around to get DS to sleep (before he was born), but turns out it's the opposite!

Our daughter is 5.5 months old. She falls asleep for naps in our arms -- she needs *a lot* of convincing to fall asleep during the day. After she is solidly asleep we transfer her into her crib for the rest of her nap. (In almost all cases, her naps last exactly 30 minutes total...)

He always naps in his crib when we're home. If we have errands to run, or just plans in general, we try to wait until after nap time. He will fall asleep in the car occasionally but it's never for long anymore and he's still cranky when he wakes up. He sleeps best in his bed!
