I would hate to see the seriousness of these issues dilluted in any way by them being relegated to a(nother) *mommy war.*

I understand her point, it's just that the idea of bashing/marginalizing other mother/parenting issues for the sake of championing any cause (even the most legitimate and serious, as these issues are!) is an ill-conceived idea on so many levels. For starters, isn't there already enough guilt being thrown around to last all mothers a lifetime and then some? Emotional blackmail, whether it be for the sake of BFing, vaccines, or otherwise, is so not cool in my book. I could go on and on, for example, about how on one hand the author berates mothers for their seeming pettiness, and then on the other hand wants them to cast aside their pettiness and join her in battle . . . seriously? These are the same women, after all , that she accuses of feeling insecure and/or defensive about their parenting choices; she even goes so far as to call their issues *non-essential* parenting issues. I digress.

Do I think the issues are hugely important and warrant championing? You betcha! (times inifinity! my mom was a foster child). Will I do it at the cost of humliating/guilting another mother? Not a chance.

@MsLipGloss: Yeah, I'm with @Mrs. Jacks. She is not suggesting that anyone wage a "mommy war" in the way that term is used whatsoever. In fact, she is criticizing the whole idea (just like you!) by turning the term on its head. Great blog post!

My parents adopted my little sister when we lived in Korea... it's an important issue.

That was sad about how the 18 year old kids are putting themselves on an adoption registry, just because they want a family.
