Just as the title says! 
We went to Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta last year and it was so relaxing. Everything about that place just feels like a hidden sanctuary. There really isn't much in terms of adventure or entertainment there but if your purpose is to go be pampered and take a deep breath from real life it's a great adults only spot to do so. I'd love to go back but am also wondering about other places that have the same effect for down the road.

I remember a beautiful beach by our hotel in Wailea on Maui. Will never forget the sunset and pillow soft sand there.

Esencia in Riviera Maya, and the resort we stayed at in Mozambique for our honeymoon! Unbelievable beach and so relaxing.

We spent half our honeymoon at Casa Velas last year and while we did really enjoy our time there, we thought it was a little overly formal (my husband REALLY resented the fact that the only restaurant open on the main property at night required closed-toe shoes for men, LOL) and had almost TOO high a staff to guest ratio. But it was really beautiful and the food, pool, and golf (I am told) were great. I think we would have liked it more had we not gone off-season.
We spent the other half of the honeymoon at Dreams Nuevo Vallarta and we actually preferred that despite not being adults only - more food options, more modern rooms, beach right there, etc. We are already looking forward to going back when the baby I am currently gestating is old enough to take part in the childcare program.

When we were in Malaysia, my husband booked a castaway picnic for us...we were literally the only people on that island that day, we travelled there by boat, got dropped off and then were picked up 4 hours later.

@daisyfay: I've been to Mexico 6 times and have seen many different resorts and I agree - Casa Velas is formal and other resorts are a lot more fun! But in terms of relaxation and peacefulness it's my favorite! I think it's all about what you're looking for.
The Chiang Dao Nest in Thailand is another gorgeous relaxation vacation spot I've been to and loooooved. @MrsMccarthy: made me think of it by bringing up Thailand!

All all inclusive resorts. Might've been the times we went, but it was quiet, relaxing, and we loved the down time.

We went to Capella Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas for our honeymoon and it was amazing. We had incredible food, service and just lounged around for 10 days... The resort has changed hands since we went, but we would love to go back again someday!

Probably the week we spent in Ko Lanta in Thailand. It wasn't a fancy resort, but we didn't need much more than the beach, the hotel pool and our rental tuk tuk.

@coopsmama: Good point - in terms of pure relaxation Casa Velas would definitely take the cake! I didn't mean to sound negative; we really did have a lovely time.

We went to an all inclusive in Fiji on our honeymoon and that was amazing. There really is nothing to do there except relax and eat and drink.

Blue Lagoon Beach Resort on Nacula Island in Fiji was by far the most relaxing vacation spot I've been to. The beach was gorgeous, the food was fabulous and the scuba was to die for. Take me back.

Came here to say our most relaxing was Mo'orea (island in French Polynesia next to Tahiti) where we spent our honeymoon, but I do also agree with Anguilla and Koh Lanta. Such gorgeous tranquil beaches.

@mrsjyw: I've been wanting to go to El dorado Casitas for a few years now, the pics look so dreamy!! We kept thinking about it but deciding to do cheaper vacations instead, now I so wish we would have gone since an adults-only resort is out for us now that we have lo!
Our honeymoon was at the Ladera Resort in Saint Lucia and we looooooved it

I have only been to one, Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun. We went with in laws and SIL stayed in our room but we still found it relaxing.

I haven't done much tropical climate travel, but I have had some amazingly relaxing vacations in Bath, Maine and Traverse City, Michigan. Not glamorous, but it is hard to beat a week waking up to a view of the water and a slow paced day.

@hotchildinthecity: Carimar Beach club. Full suites with kitchens and living rooms right on the beach. Sooo nice. If you go, get a table at the restaurant Jacala a short walk down the beach, it's incredible.

Last time we stayed at Frangiapani (amazing, but definitely for adults) and a bed and breakfast I can not remember the name of but would not really recommend

I hope to go to Mexico with family next year. Puerto Vallarta was dreamy. We went to someplace else IX...?? in Mexico -- it was an amazing spa retreat and we got to float down a real life rainforest lazy river. I have to look up the place.

Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. There is just something about that place that makes you slow down and relax.
