@skipra: @lilteacherbee: this is what we plan to do if and when we have a third! what cars do you have?

@birdofafeather: we have an older Honda Pilot. I found Honda to be the best for car seats with LATCH and tether anchor placements.

2.5 year old RF behind passenger. Latch install

Just a friendly PSA reminder: most cars and car seats don't allow latch borrowing. Most cars have driver and passenger side latch sets and No
middle seat set. You typically can't install wth latch in the middle unless you have a dedicated set of latches for the middle seat. Of course there are cars and seats that are exceptions and they do have three sets in a three seat row or allow borrowing . But just keep it in mind!

@Littlebit7: yeah, that bugged me about my 2008 Mazda when I got it - no middle LATCH, same with our 2007 Camry. But then we bought this 2005 Tundra and it has LATCH on the drivers side and in the middle, but not on the passenger side.

@mediagirl: that's so interesting. What an odd placement; I wonder if it has to do with tether locations?

@Littlebit7: probably...but they still could have put a tether behind the passenger, right? So strange.

@Littlebit7: good reminder and this is the #1 reason we went with Honda. Because they do put dedicated latch for the center seat.

@skipra: yeah I wish more would. It's sort of a no brainer and what, probably costs the manufacture pennies

RF behind passenger side. The new baby is going behind the driver side. Once the new baby is 7 months or so and switches to a convertible seat we'll probably have to decide to forward face DD1 or get a bigger car! I don't really want them sitting next to each other.

We have DD behind the passenger side. In her infant seat, we had it in the middle. When we had it installed, the woman helping us said the safest place for a car seat is in the middle.

@birdofafeather: I have a Chevrolet Equinox and DH's is a Hyundai Elantra (both 2011 models). I was surprised that three across fits in the Elantra, but I specifically bought narrow seats (Diono Radians and Chicco Keyfit)

Our 2yo is rear-facing on the passenger side.

Supposing we succeed at having a #2, #2 will be in the middle in the baby bucket with seatbelt install, #1 will stay on the passenger side.

Once #2 outgrows the bucket, we'll need to move #1 front-facing behind the driver; the bucket will fit in the middle without affecting the driver's seat, but, rear-facing convertible won't.

4 yo FF on left, 1 yo RF on the right. NO idea how we're going to fit 3 across in December!

@Mrs. Pickle: why don't you want them sitting next to one another? Why would you have to FF DD1 if you're not ready?

Right now DS is in the middle, belt installed, DD is behind the passenger (both FF). Latch installed. When new baby comes it will go in the middle with DS and DD on either side. I think my kids might be a bit sad to be apart because they love sitting together. The seats will fit best with the bucket in the middle though.

@mediagirl: I think they would aggravate each other if they were side by side. My siblings and I fought a lot in the car. I just don't know if there would be enough leg room for the driver with a rear facing convertible seat behind the drivers side. We need to play around with the seats and see. Maybe they'll fit just fine and it will be no big deal.
