just curious. I try to avoid her bedroom because I don't want to create a bad association with it, so I stick her on a chair. I may move the chair to the hallway (all one-story house) instead of right in the living room/kitchen because my youngest continually tries to go up to her.

DD isn't old enough for timeout yet but I suspect we'll do the same as my parents - facing the corner in the bathroom.

Her room. But I try to phrase time out more as a "you need to sit alone to calm yourself down" for now. But she's been a total pill lately so I probably f-ing it up anyway.

Her bed. I don't do it as punishment but when she needs to calm down (especially since her crying freaks out ds!) that's where I put her.

I send my son to his room. He's been going there for almost 2 years now and he doesn't have any problems going to sleep at night.

When they were younger they went to the step - now they go to their rooms - not so much as punishment but for us to both cool down. I usually find them reading or playing with some toys when I go get them

I used to use it to calm down in her room - we referred to it as take 5.
but today, it was time out. punishment. haha. she whipped my 1 year old in the face with a stuffed dog, and when my dd2 wandered near her as she was about to be sprung from time out, she said "get out of my face!" so she continued to sit for another few minutes.

On the bottom stair, but once in a while I put him in his room (when we both need a time-out).

A corner that has no visual stimulation around him. It happens to be in a lil hallway that leads to our master bedroom.

I don't like creating that negative association, but it's the only thing that works for us right now.

I like the bathroom corner idea. Or bottom stairs. Maybe a "thinking chair".

His room. He still loves his bed and is great about bedtime and nap time and seems to know the difference. He can open his door now, but still never leaves his room till we come get him (actually he never even leaves his bed!)

@sorrycharlie: yeah my dd is 2.5 so it's usually just to calm down. In your case I am not sure where I would do it (and I am very very sure we will get there).
