I can't decide where to put our Christmas tree this year. We have a nice spot upstairs in the corner of the great room. I love this spot because there are vaulted ceilings and we can have a nice big tree. It's also on the floor with the kitchen and dining room (all open concept with a small sitting area). We also have a great spot on the lower level in the family room where the fireplace and sofa's are. I love it down there because I picture opening presents around the fire sitting on the couches sipping mimosa..... What would you do? The cozy family room by the fire, or the grand great room?

You could have two trees! But...where will you see it more often? Where do you spend more time?

@spaniellove: DH said no to 2 trees. We spend more time upstairs because that's where the kitchen is, but when we relax at night we always got down to the family room

@spaniellove: day to day, I want it upstairs because you can see if when you walk in the door and it would be big and grand, but for Christmas morning I just have this vision of us all sitting downstairs by the fire opening gifts. No help at all, right?

I vote in the great room if that's where you are most of the time. Perhaps you can come up with some ideas to cozy up the great room so that you will want to be there Christmas morning?

Definitely in the family room!! It's so relaxing to just sit on the couch and gaze at a lit tree. It is for me anyways!

I've always wanted a great room. And I love open floor plans. If I were you I'd SO do 2 trees. I already warned Wagon Sr. that once we're in a house I want 2 trees-- a pretty one for me, a fun one for the kids!
