Ours is upstairs between the master bedroom and a linen closet

Ours is on the first floor in a hallway next to the door to our garage. In our old house it was upstairs next the master bedroom. There are pros and cons to both. In the new house we have a utility sink in the laundry room so it is really nice having it downstairs if we come in with dirty clothes/shoes, etc. But for every day laundry, upstairs was so much more convenient so I didn't have to lug baskets up and down stairs and I didn't have to worry about company seeing our literal dirty laundry. But the down side to upstairs is that I always worried that the washer would over flow which would be bad news upstairs.

Also upstairs, kind of in the hallway. I'll never go back to laundry on a floor other than the bedrooms. Love it!

Downstairs next to the garage and a bathroom. As a mom of a boy who already loves splashing in puddles I think this will be good!

Downstairs off of the garage...we walk through it and go up a flight of stairs to get to our main floor. It's a bit of a pain because our main bathroom and bedrooms are on the second floor, so when I do laundry the baskets have to come down two flights of stairs.

Ours is upstairs and it's more of a laundry closet and is in between our bedroom and DS's (and the one we'll use if we have another kid). I love having upstairs though, and not in the bathroom like at our condo. I do laundry at all sorts of weird hours and I love not having to haul the clothes around to different floors.

It's a closet in my kitchen. I don't like it. My circa-2011 machines are too big to get in the 1971 opening, so we had to bench press the dryer to get it back there, and they block easy access to the water heater.

@chopsuey: that's where ours used to be and it was fantastic. Now it is on the main level, which is okay.

Our new house is all one story, so it's in a closet by the guest bedrooms. It's SO much better than our townhouse where it was in the basement with bedrooms on the second floor.
the only real downfall is that it's not in a dedicated room (just a closet) and I feel like lint gets everywhere and it's harder to hide so we have to clean the floor more. But that's not really a downfall, I'm just lazy

@Truth Bombs: we didn't even think of the possibility of water leaking, but thankfully our builder did! We have a drain on the floor of our laundry room underneath the washing machine!

In the unfinished basement. I hang most of mine and OH's to dry. The first and second floor laundry options for this house when it was built would not have been big enough for that so I don't mind the steps.

Ours is in a closet right off the kitchen on the first floor. I like it because I am downstairs most of the day (only two bedrooms upstairs) and it is easier to stay on top of the loads, plus all the swimming stuff from the pool can just get thrown right in!

In the hall across from DD1's bedroom. I like that it's on the first floor/same as all bedrooms, hate that I can't do it after she goes to sleep because it wakes her up.

Hard to describe, but it's around the corner from the kitchen, on the way to the guest room and playroom

Ours is next to the master. We live on a single-level house.

Ours is upstairs at the opposite end of the hallway from our master bedroom. I love having it upstairs!

My washer and dryer are in my kitchen and very visible. There is no dedicated laundry room, and I think most houses in my neighborhood have their washer and dryer in their basements. My original owner decided to move it into the kitchen, but it's an eyesore.

we don't have a designated laundry room. Our washer and drier are in the garage (which I guess is very common with a lot of the houses in our area that were built at around the same time: 1950s-1960s.) I don't love it but I'm used to it.

In a closet next to the garage door. It's fine. Not like my last one but, I'm going to reno this one too eventually and I'm hoping it'll be amazing!

In the basement! Not in a room, but hidden behind sliding doors with a utility sink.

Older home, so it's in a portion of the garage that has been fully walled off.

In the basement/garage. My #1 item on our new house list is laundry on main level. I hate going down there to do laundry.

Ours is in our finished basement. It works well there! In our old house it was upstairs and next to LOs room and I had to make sure the cycles were running when LO wasn't sleeping.

Upstairs, closest to the kids bedrooms which I don't love...I like doing laundry at night!

Downstairs. It's a windowed corridor beside the backyard door which leads into the guest area. The door faces the living room, which I don't like so much. I paint it.

Right off from the kitchen - but, like, you have to carry the laundry THROUGH the kitchen to get there. It's literally the furthest possible room from the upstairs bedrooms without going outside. So, it's a little bit of a pain. But it's a huge room (for a laundry room) with a separate door and a lot of cabinets, so I can't complain too much.

In the basement. I don't do laundry because I don't like my basement. But my husband doesn't mind doing it so maybe this is a win for me....

Late '80's house so it's in the garage though our garage has been converted to a rec room! It's just a tiny area though so we will be expanding along the whole wall eventually and hide it with sliding barn doors

In the basement. We have a laundry chute so I only have to carry clothes up the stairs.
I actually prefer it there. We spend most of the day in the rec room so I can watch the kids while I get stuff done and I don't have to worry about noise or vibrations at night.

ours is tucked into a corner of our bathroom - hidden within a floor to ceiling cupboard. when we bought our house the bathroom and laundry were seperate back to back rooms, but they were tiny so we combined them into a larger space. the best bit is clothes don't have to travel far from the hamper to the wash

We live in a rambler so only one floor and our laundry room is between the garage and then our office room (others might traditionally use this room as a family room). To get to our bedrooms, we have to walk through the kitchen and living room to the other side of the house.

French doors between the kitchen (great room that opens into dining and living) and master. Super convenient.

Ours is also upstairs between a bedroom and linen closet. It is pretty ideal but I just didn't want it in the basement!! It's not far from my son's room so it's hard to do laundry during naps but we had the same set up at our two previous homes so we're used to it.

Upstairs at the other end of the house away from master bedroom. It's next to linen closet.

In the basement. Such a pain lugging baskets from basement to top floor.
