My first was a colicky hot mess. My second is really laid back. It's like she knows not to be colicky for fear I might lose my mind (again).

My first, a boy! If I had had my girl first there's no way I would have gone for number two so soon!

I only have one kiddo, but if our second has an easier temperament, I might just have to check his/her pulse. DD has been a joy, so I'm nervous I'll have a doozie of a second.

@lizzywiz: this is the best poll ever. Thank you!!

@Rubies: oh good!!! i know you were worried about that.
my 2nd is really easy, but who knows what he'll be like as a toddler. he is very mobile and active already. DD was a more challenging baby, but she's been a great toddler.
i think i was the harder baby too (i'm the oldest), and my sister was very easy. in my husband's family... DH was easy like my son (he's the eldest), the 2nd one was really challenging (MIL says she reminds her of my daughter), and the 3rd was a complete angel.

I only have 1 LO, but I pray the next one is more mellow! She STTN early, but screamed ALL day long due to reflux...I was a hot mess

@LuLu Mom: oh, the reflux. That and mine didn't/doesn't sleep. Makes it easier to say one and done, that's for sure!

@lizzywiz: LO has outgrown the reflux (well we are still on the medicine for it since it was extreme) but I'm already getting the itch for number 2. Although #1 is a sweet onery handful

Haha, add me to the neither list? They're both challenging in different ways.

I sure hope number two is easier. That's if C ever calms down enough that we consider number two.

#1 was {still is} a dream, but #2...let's just say he's lucky he's cute.

Interesting results so far. I really thought most people would say number 1 had the easier temperament- just because it seems to be what I have heard.

Hmmm... I think Charlie (first) was more laid back in general. Olive was fussier, but not colicky. Overall though I think he was easier.

My first was an easy baby!! Excellent sleeper, pretty good eater (til the 2's hit and pickiness is normal), and she was amazingly well-behaved in public places like restaurants and subways.

Number 2 has been easier as a baby but we're predicting he'll be much tougher as a toddler since he is more feisty and daring. Number 1 has gotten easier as he's gotten older.

@deerylou: I would echo this statement word for word! My LO has been an angel of a baby. Everyone tells us #2 will be very hard.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
My first (11) was very hard, he had colic until 9 months, co-slept until way too long, then turned into the sweetest cleanest toddler, now that he's 11 his original roots are showing
Second (2) was the easiest baby by far, hardest toddler by far. She will be our first broken bone, I just know it, that and she eats EVERYTHING she's not suppose to, I've called poison control so many times.
Our third almost had me thinking she had colic, she's such a happy girl now at 3 months. She still only wants me, and I hold her almost all day long and we co-sleep, not by choice by exhaustion.

I only have the one, and it's difficult to say whether she's easy-I have nothing to compare her too and also it depends on how much I'm happy for my lifestyle to change- if I held her all day for naps and we co-slept, she could be in the running for "easiest" baby ever... But it's not how I imagined it to be, so I guess she gets more cranky the more we try and get her aligned with us.

Can't vote yet because. I only have one, but she's pretty easy so far at 12w. I'd be very lucky if my next is the same. She sleeps and naps well, is a little fussy in the evenings but otherwise pretty laid back. I know this can change in the blink of an eye, but so far I feel very blessed to have an "easy" baby.

#1 by far; he was a drama baby but could easily be walked back off the ledge. #2 is att-ti-tude and fiery temper. Good times.

For me I would say as infants, #2 was easier... but now that they are both toddlers, I find #1 slightly easier (and more challenging occasionally) in some ways.
