What carrier is your favorite for 6+ months? We have a hand-me-down Baby Bjorn now, but I'm thinking of getting something different since she likes to be worn & it's helpful to avoid the double stroller when we are out and about

I liked the Ergo when LO was that age, as it was easier on my (slightly achey/dodgy) shoulders. DH continued to use our Bjorn though! Both were second hand so I was happy to get both!

I had a beco Gemini and really liked it at that age. It has an option for baby to face forward, which I never really used or cared for(less comfortable for me and my baby was a snuggler) but Dh did forward a few times. I also used it fo a back carry once she got bigger and heavier.
Only downside is it is a little smaller than some other carriers, including the ergo. I ended up borrowing an ergo to get through the end of winter because C was just too tall to wear comfortably in the beco (she's average to short in height, and was around 18 months when it got uncomfortable).

From 6-12 months I used a woven wrap, but it was colder weather so I didn't wear my LOs as often. When they turned 1 we got a Tula and both have come to really like that. We just bought a second for DH to wear the other twin. I find it really comfortable for back carries specifically which is how I usually wear one LO when I'm out with both of them by myself.

Love our Ergo! I am lusting over a toddler Tula though for the future

@blackbird: I do have a ring sling but I just don't feel like she's secure in it. I must be doing it wrong!
I've been lusting over a Tula too but just don't know if it's worth the investment and I haven't been able to find a used one anywhere.

@LuLu Mom: I really wanted to buy a Tula last winter- only thing that stopped me was the shipping time and that she was kind of between the standard and toddler size. Still may if baby 2 loves being worn as much as my older one did. They aren't much more than a beco and you can resell them easily, from what I hear.

@LuLu Mom: Tula!!! I love my Tula. I also have a beco Gemini which I used a lot with #1, but I prefer the Tula.
I have my beco for sale if you are looking

I loved my Ergo, but I really want a Tula or to have my wrap converted to a toddler SSC.

Different carriers fit certain body types better than others. It is immensely helpful if you can try some on or borrow some. You can look for a baby boutique in your area where you can check the fit (even Buy Buy Baby now has several you can try).
If your friends don't have any you can try, there are Babywearing International groups in most cities that have lending libraries.
If those are not options, several websites allow returns. Diapers.com is one.
My personal experience (as a short, small-to-average, hourglass-shaped woman with a 6.5 month old) follows:
Tula quite comfortable once I found my personal sweet spot (but it can be difficult to do with strap webbing that is stiff and difficult to adjust). If multiple people will use it, it's a pain to adjust between users. The waist band fits me weird and gapes at the top front no matter how tight I cinch it (probably works better on other shapes).
Connecta is my absolute favorite. So easy to adjust and comfortable for both of us. This is the one my LO falls asleep in often. It also folds into a very small size for the diaper bag and is less expensive than a Tula.
Infantino Mei Tai is another favorite (and very budget friendly). Since you tie it, adjustments are easy between people. Downside is that the straps always end up on the ground while getting it on; so I choose to use this one at home and not while outside.
Woven wraps can be super comfortable for virtually everyone but have the same issue of dragging the ground while putting them on.
Our Beco Gemini fits my husband (fit, average height) better than it fits me, so we've made it his carrier. The straps adjusts more easily than the Tula but not as well as the Connecta. It is thickly padded, so we have avoided it outdoors in warm weather.
Good luck finding your next carrier. There's nothing better than baby snuggles!

Lillebaby Complete--it's ergonomic, has all types carrys, and comes in many fabrics for different climates...and has a pocket and hood.

I've had great experience with the ergo with both of my kids. I wore LO2 a lot, and it was a lifesaver for trips outside of the house with two kids. It was comfortable for me, but DH couldn't wear LO for long in it.

@blackbird: @LuLu Mom: Regarding the ring sling... I have one, and it'll do, but no matter what, you still need one hand to keep LO steady which is a major disadvantage to some of the other carriers.

I'm a tula fan myself - you won't find them used. They sell more used than they do brand new, 90% of the time.
But I totally agree with finding a BWI or baby boutique! All carriers really do fit differently!

Ergo! I do love others (Tula, Lenny Lamb) but Ergo is the cheapest and it's comparable still to the more expensive ones in my opinion.

i had a beco gemini and totally loved it. especially after using the bjorn for the first 5.5 months. It was such a big difference in comfort and fit. And even though as a toddler i prefer the ergo/tula, another thing i love about the beco at all ages is that the straps were the easiest to adjust between any other carrier i tried which made using it between me and DH easy.

I love my Lillebaby! It's super comfortable and easy to use (I have no problem using it when I'm by myself) It's great for hotter weather too as you can zip down the front to a breathable mesh material. It also easily converts to a back pack style when they are older

@ineebee: you shouldn't need one hand on baby to keep them steady in a ring sling. What part do you feel you need to "steady" when using a ring sling?

@Navy_Mommy: I have a Balboa ring sling, so that might be different from what others have. I usually need to have one hand supporting his back. I can take it away and he'll be fine, but sometimes he launches himself backwards so I leave a hand there to be safe.
