Graco Snugride or Chicco Keyfit?
We are not as worried about the price difference.... just want to get the best one with the best features. Are they basically the same?
Which would you recommend?

I've never tried the Graco but we went with the Keyfit based on safety ratings and have had no issues with it!

I was torn between the two as well but ended up going with the Graco snugride because we found it on special offer. I think the Graco is lighter weight too

We used the Graco and loved it. Never tried the keyfit though for comparison.

We have the graco snugride 35 and love it! Pretty easy to use, no complaints. Haven't tried the Chicco though, so I can't compare.

We have the Chicco and while I love the safety ratings, it is so heavy! I had a hard time carrying LO in it after 3 months. It now stays in the car all the time (at 7 months) and I just take him in and out.

We loved our Keyfit. Chose it based on safety, nicer looks, nicer fabric, etc. I don't know how much heavier it is, but we used a stroller frame with it if we were doing more than going to/from the house.

@coacheswife123: we used the Graco snugride 35 and never had any problems with it. I never had any difficulty with the straps at all. It was my first experience with really using a carseat so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I thought it was pretty east to adjust and use. Hope that helps!

We have the chicco and like it! It is heavy, but we rarely use it, and it had the best safety ratings that I found (that was also compatible with our stroller).

We have the Graco Snugride 35. We knew they were rated well and found them on a year end clearance at BRU for $100, so our decision was made!

@MerryC: @jennylynn: I think we would go with the 35 as well - as our baby is measuring LONG like his daddy! No problems with it being heavy/bulky? I see it does adjust in the front which seems to be the way to go !

We have the Chicco Keyfit also because of the high safety ratings and also because of the looks. The fabric is really nice and thick. But like everyone says, it's HEAVY - about 10 lbs by itself. By three months, my LO was about 16 lbs so I was lugging around 26 lbs going up and down my apartment steps but at least my arms got really toned!

@coacheswife123: I don't find it overly bulky or heavy at all, it's just shy of 10 lbs without baby, so they baby is going to be the majority of the weight before long anyway. I actually carry two at the same time without too much trouble. All the adjustments are super easy and accessible and I like that the buckles are more substantial and sturdy than a lot of the other seats we saw.

Love our Chicco keyfit 22! We did a ton of research and went with that based on all the rave reviews. Only downside is that it's really heavy.

We have the Graco Snugride 35 too. I would get the 32 though because by the time they become 35lbs, they'll outgrow it by height. I think the 32 is lighter so I would go with the 32.

@coacheswife123: I don't find it too bulky at all. I never really had a problem getting it in and out of the car, or carrying it.

Thank you ladies! Now I am just trying to decide between the 30 and the 35 if we go with the Graco!

I bought the graco 30, but when it arrived I found it very uncomfortable to hold. The molding on the handle is hollow underneath and dug into my arm.
It was so uncomfortable that I returned it and bought the key fit instead.
Go check out the handles and see wat I mean. It was a deal breaker for me!

We have the Graco Snugride, and there are two different strap options for actually strapping the baby into the carseat. One has two belts that go into the back of the carseat that you have to reach back behind the carseat and tighten from there to make sure the baby is snug. The other model has a strap on the bottom of the front of the seat that you can just pull out and it gets them in tightly. We discovered this difference in our car seat class. We have the first kind, with the two straps in the back, and it is harder to use than the one that has the one strap in the front. If you go with Graco, try to get the one that tightens the baby with the front strap.

I have the keyfit 30. I love it!! so easy to adjust the straps (I loosen it every time I put her in, and then pull it tight afterward..no fighting her!). there's a button in the front of the seat under their feet that controls the straps.
and she LOVES it, it's so comfortable. she falls asleep almost immediately!
it got great safety ratings too.
