I have a first generation b&w Nook. 
I would eventually like a new fancy one. So I thought I might be able to find one on a deal site or refurbished.
Which one do you have? Do you like it? How much did you pay if you don't mind sharing?
Can you read library e books on it?

Kindle Paperwhite. Before that I had the Kindle Keyboard. Before I bought my new Kindle I read a ton of reviews comparing all the top contenders and for me the Paperwhite came out on top. I love it and use it every day!! There are programs that can convert any ebook filetype into another easily. Check out Calibre.

I also have the original B&W nook. It is starting to act clunky, like sometimes it won't download books that I've purchased. It is pretty old so that is to be expected. Lately I've been reading on my google tablet, but I like the eInk sooo much better. I'd love a Kindle Paperwhite but I feel like it's wasteful to buy that when I already have the tablet.

Yeah I should add if you're going to get a "Colour EReader" (IE a tablet) just get a regular android tablet. Much better bang for your buck and you can still read ebooks on it. I personally like the e-ink much better for reading though. The paperwhite is a completely different (better) reading experience than a tablet.

@pui: DH goes to bed early and I read with a book light or flashlight if I'm on my nook or just the backlight of the tablet if I'm using that. I still find the tablet too bright even if it is at the dimmest setting. I haven't tried out a paperwhite, but I'd like to.

No suggestions about which one to buy, but if your library uses OverDrive for ebook lending, you could check out library books on almost any device.

Kindle Fire; love it; free birthday gift; and I think so. I wouldn't trade it for another type because I love the display, touchscreen, and that it's half tablet, half reader.

My husband and I share the Kindle Fire. I think that it is versatile in its uses and it has nice gadgets. I didn't want one, but dh got it and now we both use it regularly.

DH uses kindle app on the iPad mini, and it meets all of his specifications (he is pretty picky). Bonus -- it's a full fledged tablet.

We first got a nook color, and now have the nook hd+. The hd+ has a big screen and a fast processor, and we actually use it more than our computer for internet bc tablets are easier with the kids. We got it on a fathers day target sale for $149. Really happy with it.

Just the old school Kindle (second generation), which I'm perfectly happy with. I use the app on my phone more often though since I'm either reading in the dark at night or on the go and don't have the Kindle with me. I know I can, but I haven't tried library books since I'm a big re-reader, so I usually buy. I'm curious about the Paperwhite, but that won't happen for us anytime soon with finances and a new baby coming.

I have a iPad mini my brother got me for Christmas last year. It's weird but I'm afraid to bring it on the train!

Kindle Paperwhite, and I love it! I can easily read it at night in bed. I like that I don't have other applications to tempt me away from reading.

I have the kobo glo. It does its job. I am reading my first book on it now and its a library book. I took it out in july and still have it (i never get to read!)

@locavore_mama: you can download the kindle app or nook app and read books on the iPad. iBooks uses the ePub formatting and I believe you can read PDFs off the iPad too. I love it because I do my reading at night in bed and thereof don't need an additional light source

@locavore_mama: I'm not too sure about the details, but I know DH mainly uses the kindle app when he borrows ebooks from the library. He reads PDF's as well (camera and car manuals.. Haha).

I had a first generation Kobo and after three years, it has a dead pixel spot which is small but annoying enough for me to want to upgrade. I got a Kobo Glo and I LOVE it.
I hate reading on my tablet, even at it's dimmest setting it's too bright.

@locavore_mama: iBooks is super easy to use. It read ePub and PDF files. I like it because I can hold my iPad sideways and flip pages with my finger like a real book. I also like that it's backlit and I can set it in night mode and turn the brightness down, which makes it so I can read in bed without bugging DH.

I have both a Nook tablet (it was a gift) and a Kindle (the small one without a keyboard at came out just before the paper white). I love and use them both regularly. The Kindle is more comfortable to read because it's more like paper, but I find I use the Nook more often because the free book selection is so much better. I use the kindle mostly for library books since whispernet is more convenient than side loading to the nook.

I have the 2nd gen kindle And the last time I used it was at the hospital during my induction with C 16+ months ago. While nursing I got hooked on just reading books on the kindle app on my iPhone and never really switched back - library and purchased.

I have an old school kindle and I still love it. easy to download library books, which is 90% of what I read (though I do have the 3rd Divergent book pre-ordered and I'm excited for that to show up!). up until about 6 months I could read while she was nursing, now it's mostly at night.

I've got the kindle touch and I love it. DH has claimed it as his own recently, so I'm waiting for the new paper white to be shipping to nz so I can get it for him!

I have an old Kindle; DH has a Nook Color.
I think I would like an Android tablet (maybe the Nexus?). That way I can download both the Kindle and Nook apps so I can read all of our e-books. I also read a lot of e-books from our library, so I want to be able to download the Overdrive app.

The original Kindle. I also have a Nexus 7 but my Kindle goes to the pool, beach, airplane, etc with me because I can read it in full sunlight! Plus, I like that I'm not straining my eyes to read it.
