Mine's the opposite - it's a cheap brand that's usually on sale called Gammaldags, meaning Old-Fashioned. I like rich, creamy ice cream and the more expensive ones they have here aren't creamy at all, it's more like yogurt.

Back home, I dunno ... but the first thing that popped into my head were the Mexican, homemade ice cream bars a guy used to sell in a cart after elementary school. Those were the bomb! My fave was butter pecan and the coconut was wonderful too (made of young coconut, not the hard stuff that gets stuck between your teeth)!

Dreyer's!

Out of all the ones you can find across the country probably Dreyer's because I can actually read all the ingredients!

Here in Texas Blue Bell reigns supreme! I love dessert trio...vanilla with fudge ribbons, brownie chunks, cookie dough, pecans...soooo good.

Ben & Jerry's! Mmmmm. I love their fro-yo too! Half baked fro-yo is a weakness of mine

We ordered Jeni's online three years ago after seeing them featured on the Cooking Channel! They are more popular now though, and are more likely to be found at at local grocery markets nationwide. Love their unique flavors... like Salty Caramel and Queen City Cayenne (chocolate with a kick). DH loves their Brown Butter Almond Brittle.

Another good artisanal brand is Van Leeuwen... hard to find outside NYC though. Their flavors are pretty strictly classic however... their vanilla is bomb, and I'm usually bored with plain flavors, but I love theirs.
