So far my 3.5 yr old has little interest in her Barbie dolls - she does have an Anna one and likes it but she much prefers her "babies" which are actual dolls - so I say the larger one!

LO is 3 and really doesn't do well with that type of hair on those dolls. They are all matted messes! I prefer dolls that are either bald or yarn haired for this reason.

Sadie doesn't usually discriminate--she loves "babies" of any kind--but I've noticed that she prefers baby dolls more than Barbies. I don't think I really started playing with Barbies until I was 5 or 6. We love the animators collection dolls over here!

We have somewhat similar Frozen dolls from target and LO definitely prefers the baby/toddler looking one over the barbie type. She loves them both but in terms of interaction with the doll, she does more "stuff" with the baby (pretends to feed, changes diaper, etc).

We have the collector's doll and DD loves it. She has a barbie doll but we're always losing the shoes and it a huge meltdown so we avoid barbie like dolls LOL

@mauxie: @MamaG: have you tried the doll detangler spray?
To make Doll Hairspray / Detangler, in a small spray bottle combine:
2 tablespoons of liquid fabric softener
fill the rest with water
Spray it on the hair. Then just use a comb to comb it.

@bunnylove08: huge meltdowns...noted. Ha!
@mauxie: @MamaG: oh yeah, the hair. We have another baby with hair and dear lord, it's in dreadlocks now. Hahaha. Poor babies.
@Mamaof2: @photojane: so helpful, thank you!

Younger LOs like bigger babies because they can carry them around and take care of them, older LOs usually play with smaller dolls and don't do as much 'caregiving' play & more storytelling play where they play with more than one doll & act out stories.

@bunnylove08: I haven't mostly because many of the dolls we were gifted with "hair" have curly hair, which probably contributes to the mess. I wasn't sure if the curl would be gone.

@mediagirl: If you aren't worried about the hair mess, I'd go with the bigger doll.
