We've been putting a little money away every month to take a vacation this summer. It's been two years since we went anywhere overnight! We're having a hard time deciding between two vacations, so I thought I'd share my first world problems with you.
LO will be 16 months old at the time of this trip.
ALASKAN CRUISE
- it's relatively inexpensive
- the flight to the disembarking port is 5 hours
- LO sails free and the itinerary is ideal so that she can get regular naps most days
- as awesome as LO is, bringing her on the trip adds a lot of stress
- whale watching, train rides, glaciers, old growth forests
- first time in Alaska
EUROPEAN CRUISE
- it would be our second European trip (still plenty to see, but it's not a novel experience per se)
- twice as expensive (ouch)
- Rome! Venice! Ephesus! Athens! And more!
- Europe will be packed in summer
- 12 hour flight
- we are history buffs, so we swoon over Europe
- we'd have to leave LO with the grandparents for a week--I know other people bring their toddlers to Europe and live to tell that tale, but they must be made of stronger stuff than us
Alaska is a slower paced vacation with natural splendor that includes bringing our young toddler along. Europe is more expensive and more hectic but more varied in what it has to offer. Which would you choose?
