Who breastfeeds or how long did you do it for? How old is LO now?
I currently breastfeed my 10 month old son. I breastfed my daughter til she was 4 months due to stress. She is now two and sometimes asks for mamas milk in a cup.

I breastfed for 2 months and then EP'ed for another 2 months. LO had tons of eating issues (lip and tongue tie, breast refusal, bottle refusal, reflux, mspi) + i had low supply, and it just got to the point where the amount of time it took me to get her the little milk I could (and the amount of effort it took me to make sure it was safe for her) were not worth the time away from her.

I still breastfeed a little (before/after/during naps and allll night long, mostly) but my twins also take formula bottles. They are almost 7 months!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: woohoo!!!
@Mae: every ounce counts! I had problems like that with my DD.

@twodoghouse: whoa twins? I'm not sure I could handle that. Lol. Breastfeeding twins... That's quite inspiring.

I breastfed lo until she was 13 months. She's 26 months old now. Hoping to breast feed for longer (hope to make it until at least 18 months) with the next lo.

My son who is 3 months. He loves it so much he won't take a bottle!

I do. DD2 is 9.5 months old. BF DD1 until 8.5 months, when my supply ran out (long complicated story of tongue tie issues). Planning to go until at least 1 year this time around!

Still nursing my 13 month old & I hope we make it to 2. We never EBF'd though due to my low supply.

I do, but only 2x per day (morning and night). LO is almost 14 months.

I'm nursing my 2 week old now. I breastfed her big sister for 18.5 months, about halfway through my second pregnancy. She'll be 2 years old tomorrow.

@MrsStar: when did she get teeth?
@T.H.O.U.: I have that same problem with my DS
@erinpye: I too am aiming for a year. Did they have teeth when nursing?

@daniellemybelle: woohoo!!! I love hearing about successful extended nursing. I'm extremely worried about teeth though.
@catlady: congrats for breaking the year mark!
@rattles: how did you deal with teeth?
honeydew / 7230 posts
@littleblessings: Aw, thanks. My twins have always been supplemented which takes a lot of the pressure off so our BFing relationship is very low-stress and enjoyable. I feel lucky that it's worked so far!
pear / 1739 posts
@twodoghouse: that's sounds nice. If I ever have twins I'll definitely try to breastfeed but I'll supplement like you. You are and inspiration. How do you feed them if they are hungry at the same time? Double nursing? Double bottle? Or one nurse, one bottle?

We breastfed up until last week! (14.5months) she sometimes still has a quick session in the MOTN, but she only takes one side at a time & i think she's not getting anything anymore. I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant which is partly why we stopped. She also seem/ed/s really ready. She hasn't missed it at all & usually when she knew she was about to have milk she would just beg for "more". I'm really surprised by how easy she took weaning. I may try to go longer with LO 2.

@littleblessings: I'm still nursing my 15 month old. Teeth have never really been an issue for us. She nipped me once and I told her "no!" Very firmly and that was that.

I breastfed my lo u til she was 14.5 months. I woh and my milk was pretty much gone by that point and she self weaned
nectarine / 2994 posts
@littleblessings: LO had 4 teeth my 6 months. (can't remember when the rest came in) teeth were never an issue for us.

I nursed dd #1 for 19 months and the main reason for her weaning is because I was pregnant with dd #2 & I dried up. I'm currently nursing dd #2 now and she's 4 weeks tomorrow.

I nursed my son until he was 17 months and I'm currently nursing my 3.5 month old daughter.

@Mrs. Sunshine: did she self wean?
@JessKas: DS still has no teeth but he sometimes bites with his gums. That hurts! That's why I fear teeth. lol
@yellowbird: I hope weaning is that easy for us. DS refuses any type of bottle so idk. I'm hopeful though.
@MrsStar: no biting?
@MarieJ: were you upset when you dried up? I wasn't pregnant when I dried up with DD but I beat myself up for it for a long time.

When did you guys realize our LO was self weaning? Were there any signs?
pear / 1579 posts
@littleblessings: I always thought I would be terribly upset when she weaned, but I was so relieved. It was mainly because I wanted a little time to have my breasts back to myself before breast feeding again (selfish, I know ).

DS 1 was breastfed until 16 months (stopped at 15 weeks pregnant with DS 2)
DS 2 is 4 months and EBF so far
pear / 1739 posts
@MarieJ: I feel the same way at times. Sometimes I feel bad because I just want my breasts to myself but my DS refuses a bottle so that's not possible. As a matter of fact my birthday is in less than a week and I wanted to have my blue angel drink but idk if that'll happen. Maybe after DS goes to sleep.

@Aandmklover: have you tried a bottle at all? I started trying bottles at that time.

I do! My son is 2.5 weeks old. So far it's going well, and I take my hat off to all of you who do it for a year or more! It feels like a big mountain to be climbing, but I know it's so good for him that I'm committed to making it work for as long as it's the best thing for him and me.

@littleblessings: no. She was nursing 2 to 3 times per 24 hour period (usually when she woke up for the day, before bed & somewhere between 4 & 6 am). The sessions were lasting 2 minutes max since like 12 months but I couldn't get her to drink any kind of milk or milk alternative so we kept going. But due to pregnancy my nipple were starting to hurt & I didn't really want to keep going so I started by giving her about 4 oz of whole milk plain Greek yogurt with her dinner every night & instead of nursing then reading her a book, we just went straight to her book. She asked for it the first night but I just didn't respond & she didn't get upset & never asked again. She already got yogurt with her breakfast in the am so I just started giving her a chunk of banana to eat when she wakes up for the day & we usually snuggle & read a book then too. She still gets the same amount of snuggles so she doesn't seem to miss it. I also started making sure she gets plenty of healthy fats & protien every time she eats, including snacks & she seems to be doing great!

I EBF and plan to until she is at least one (DD is 3 months now). I'd love to go until 2 or longer, but may have to wean if I want to get pregnant again in the timeframe I want.
pear / 1579 posts
@littleblessings: I definitely understand! I haven't had a drink (absolutely nothing ) since my 2012 when we got our BFP with dd 1. I've been breast feeding & pregnant every year since then. I hope you get to have your drink & thoroughly enjoy it!

@Mrs. Champagne: congrats!
@ChiCalGoBee: I am inspired by the ones that make it past a year too. I'm hoping to but my family is soooo judgmental.
@Mrs. Sunshine: that sounds awesome. I fear temper-tantrums when it's time to wean. Not sure if I'm gonna let him self wean or wean him myself but your weaning story is inspiring.
@pui: when were you thinking about ttc again?
@MarieJ: New Years 2013 was my first and last drink. I was nursing for my birthday. Then I fell pregnant again a little while after that. This last 4th of July was my first one not pregnant in 3 years. Lol. It was kinda relieving. Idk my birthday is Saturday and then SOs 21st birthday is Sunday so I kinda wanna have a drink with him on his birthday too.

@Mrs. J: do you plan on tandem feeding at all?
@lovehoneybee: how did you wean?
