I think we both compromise equally but if you asked my SO, he would say he does. I can be pretty stubborn so he tries to compromise in order to not cause any fights.

I think he does. That sounds bad when I type it out. But only hen it comes to things like paint colors and decorating. I usually have an idea and he has something different. He tends to go with my idea because he likes to give my what I want. Christmas decorating was a hard one because I grew up with white lights and color coordinated ornaments. He was very much against it and wanted his colored lights so we had those for four years. This year it was time to buy a new tree and he picked out one with white lights without me even asking. I thought it was a nice gesture.

When it comes to more serious things like finances we always meet in the middle.

I think I definitely do. I am super low maintenance and don't really ask for much. I do have to really work to be accepted by his parents so I feel like I'm always bending over backwards. Also I am here alone dealing with everything half the time so I think just that in itself is a big compromise.

We both do. I think it just depends on the subject, for who's more willing to budge.

I do. Hubs is super used to getting his way because his entire family puts him on a pedestal and treats him like a prince.

I do. Every single time. But he makes up for it in other areas

i'll tell u i compromise more, but i'm sure my husband feels he compromises more. maybe we're equal.

He thinks he does, because I always insist we talk things out when its something I need to think about, and he says we always end up picking my way.... but he's not aware of all the times I just let him have his way, lol.

I think we both compromise, but on different things. When it comes to house stuff, he definitely compromises more, because he knows I care more about stuff like that than he does. Then there are things that I definitely do the compromising, if it's something he cares about more than I do.

Mr. Marbles definitely compromises a lot more than I do. But usually it has to do with small things like what to eat for dinner or what gift to buy someone... I usually have more preferences and Mr. Marbles doesn't or is more laid back so it ends up that he compromises more. When it comes to important things though like LM's schooling or daycare, we'll both compromise.

DH definitely compromises a lot more often than I do on big things. I compromise a lot more on the lil things much more easily. It's a good balance.

I definitely compromise more, but it's because I make a conscious decision to do so.

I am an only child and grew up usually getting what I wanted. My husband had a brother and his parents have very hard personalities and were very strict with their kids. Like, they couldn't even get a box of pop-tarts in the grocery store if they asked. They never were allowed to get candy or ice cream, couldn't watch TV, their parents never surprised them with trips to the park or small treats, nothing. I had a wonderful childhood and his was just so much different than mine.

I always feel sad when my DH brings up his childhood, and I like to spoil him a bit now :). So when he has really set his mind on something that he wants, I usually don't interfere, even if I don't really want it myself.

@MamaMoose: My hubs is kind of like that too! He's the baby of the family, plus he's kind of an only child because his siblings were so much other. He is definitely the golden child and has a hard time being wrong, or letting others get their way. *sigh* I am stubborn too so compromising is not always our strongest suit!

I definitely compromise more but he makes up for it in other ways - like letting me work part-time from home, getting me the puppy that I wanted, etc.

We are both really great at compromising. But with that said, I think he does end up compromising more when we can't come to an equal decision.

I'm really stubborn and he's a lot better at moving past things then I am.
