I totally make DH do it, I can barely handle being in the room :T

We set her down on the table and the nurse holds her!

We both did for the 2 month ones.
This time, I'll be going alone, so it will just be me. SOB! I have a feeling she is going to be a lot angrier this time. And she was pretty mad last time, so I'm worried.
How did A do?

DH!
DS is awesome, never cries - but getting his blood taken was pretty terrible. I think it bothered him more that he was being held down rather than the actual needle but I was a MESS. Cried my eyes out in the hall until I had makeup all down my face. DS was laughing on the way out and I looked a hot mess!

Me (or, I set him on the table if the nurse asks me to). My husband doesn't have a job that he can take time off for appts and such so I unfortunately always have to take my son alone.

Hubs holds his arms down and the nurse uses her legs to hold his legs down. I hide in the corner not looking.

Oh man! I think I will have to. Don't think DH can take off time to go with me to appointments! But now I'm thinking he should for the 2 month one!

We switch off. I did it for 2 and 6 months, he did it for 4 months, and will do it for...whenever the next round is.

DH did her 2 and 3 month shots, I held her for the 4 months and for the 6 months DH did

I do, to prove to myself that I can after the mess I was at her first few hip ultrasounds. I've done both the 2 and 4 month ones and was super proud myself, lol.

DH did for all of his shots at 2 and 4 months. I did for his 6 months shots because DH was in the restroom. Awesome timing.

Our nurses don't let anyone hold him. They ask us to move away and get ready to scoop him up once he's done. They must have had an incident at some point where some parent freaked or something.

@highwire: I was alone for the 4 month shots too! It wasn't too bad. LO fell asleep almost immediately afterwards, so I caught a break!
@mrsjyw: Good luck today!
The nurse usually has DS on the table and I'm holding his hand.

sigh... dh can't take time off from work unless it's a really important one (20 week scan to find out gender!), so i took him to 2, 4, and 6 month shots. i was nervous for all of them but in the end they were ok.
i'm not looking forward to 1 yr old shots, though!

@winniebee: Me too. DH went with me for the 4 month shots, but otherwise, I have been solo. *augh*

Usually Wagon Sr. and the nurse holds them down while I cower in the corner, then as soon as the cries start I swoop in and pick baby up.
With the second it's been a little easier-- Wagon Sr. and I have both gone solo and it's been fine. She's a trooper. She cries but stops after like two seconds.

@MsLipGloss: He managed to get free from work for 2 sick visits when DS was VERY sick, but it was because he was at a conference one day and the other day it was a blizzard and the whole city was about to be shut down. He was there for our initial weight check after discharge from hospital b/c he was on vacation. Being the responsible party sucks!
I actually thought the 9 month blood draw for iron/lead was far worse than any shots. They took it from his ARM. and he was inconsolable.

The nurse always asks me to lay her on the table but I usually hold her hands and try to distract her. DH hates doing it so he's usually the one to hug her afterwards to try to calm her down.

DH does holds him, but I could probably do it, I just have to look away.

I'm usually the one taking her, DH is at work. I don't mind doing it though, if I'm holding her I get to cuddle her after.

I took her to all of her appts up until the 1 year, I made DH come along and he had to hold her for that one. I'm glad he was there, she got poked 3 times *sob*

Both of us go to the appointments, but I hold LO for shots. My husband is in the corner with the car seat looking away.
