When your LOs just started being mobile; who hovered more?
Within a 2 week period M has gone from crawling to pulling herself up to cruising solo on furniture and walking solo with her push walker. I tend to kinda let her go while keeping a close eye. My husband on the other hand hovers a lot more! He's so afraid of her falling! I am too but I figure it'll be good for her to fall a few times! But the girl is fearless!
Who hovers more? You or your husband/wife?

Daddy for sure!!!! I let him live and learn, like you. But DH is very protective! Sometimes our nephew will come play and DH will often hold C the whole time because he doesn't want our nephew picking on him haha.

I said equally, which is to say, very little. You're absolutely right that falling is good for them. I say, put down foam mats if you don't have carpet, get rid of any truly sharp edges, and then let them go for it. My daughter is tough as nails, and I think a lot of it is due to the total non issue we make falling down.

DH! He was so scared when LO was learning to sit and fell backwards for the first time.

@sarac: My kid is tough too. He hardly ever cries from falling or getting picked on by older babies. It's actually really nice!

@Mrs. Pen: Yeah, I think it's really important. My daughter is very small and slight, and I've always taken her to things with older children and encouraged her to interact as she feels comfortable. So she's very interested in playing with larger, faster and stronger kids, even though some times she gets knocked over. She just gets up and keeps playing.
I am also really careful to not react when she falls over. Usually she'll look at me, and I'll just smile and say yay, you found the floor! 95% of the time she smiles back and goes along her way. The rest of the time it's honestly a big deal and we snuggle and then feel better. But your reactions really inform theirs.

@sarac: Cobi is small too! 6th percentile for his weight! Whenever he falls I also clap and cheer haha! When we started him in swim lessons, everytime he dunked his head in the water we made sure to cheer too and now he isn't spooked by it, it makes him smile. That's always been my trick, especially with toddlers. However I've found once they spot blood - it's over hahaha.

Our son isn't mobile yet, but I know for sure that DH will hover more. I am a more naturalistic type parent...let them learn, let them explore. Dh is not. If he could have our son in a bubble for all his life, he would!

Definitely daddy.
We dropped her off in the nursery at church today and he went and checked on her SIX TIMES (even though we had a buzzer in case anything went wrong).
Crazy!

Hahah when she falls I keep going on like nothing happens and we've been doing this about other things since she was young. So she doesn't really cry at stuff. But onc she it more mobile my husband is like freaking out! He'll wince silently when she falls. I always have to tell him to stop or she'll think she has to be scared!
