I've noticed some people really listen to their mom... while other people really really listen to dad. Others are much closer to their siblings, and take advice from them the most.
Who in your family do you really heed and take counsel from?

It depends. On health related stuff, my mom for sure, but she's a nurse, lol.
I have two older sisters who are SO different than I am, I take all of their advice with a grain of salt, haha.
My Dad is awesome though. I love that he'll only give advice on something if he's truly confident in his ability to chime in. If I ask for advice and he doesn't know what I should do he'll tell me that and probably recommend someone else I should ask. And despite his failed marriage to my mom, I really enjoy and follow his relationship advice.

I usually go to my aunt for any advise or if I just need to talk. She's always impartial and has great insight.
My mom is sort of crazy and my dad just isn't the kind of guy I feel like I could sit down and talk to. We talk about superficial stuff, but nothing too deep.
After spending more time with her, I actually think my mother in law could be someone I could talk to. I wish we lived closer to them so I could have the opportunity to do so!

It definitely depends on the topic, but for most things, my Mom is definitely my go-to person. She certainly would be the person I ask financial advice, children advice, cooking advice, etc. But if I have a car problem or a computer problem, then it's my Dad all the way. Those are his areas of expertise, so he would be able to help more than my Mom in those cases.

My brother - he's 3 years older than I am and when we were kids, he always took care of me so we're really close.

Well, if I don't go to my husband, I go to my sister. She goes to me too, so it works for us. She's also a teacher to deaf children, so she has a Masters in child development, which makes her helpful with Wombat advice even though she's not a mom yet. Sometimes I go to my Dad, but I'd never ask my mother anything ever.

Husband first, younger brother, then best friend.
I go to my mom for MIL advice and my dad when I need to be cheered up. My dad tends to give me sound advice when we do have serious talks, while I'm usually the listener with my mom and her troubles.
I think when I was younger, I was able to go to both of them equally, but now the roles have reversed and they come to me more often than I go to them.

I usually go to my older sister first. She tends to be a little more objective than my mom - and if it's about my DH I know he is much more comfortable with me going to my sister for advice than he is with me going to my mom. She is also more relatable.
But I am super close to my mom as well, and both my sister and I go to her for lots of stuff together as well.
The stuff I go to my dad for is spiritual/religious topics, politics, and news.

Good question! DH is always first. My sisters and mother are the ones I get advice from the most often. But I most highly value advice from my grandmothers; they have a wonderful way of keeping things in perspective. My dad has a mental illness, so he's not exactly someone I'd go to for advice.

Husband first always, on all topics. After that it depends on what it's related to. We're both close to our parents so we feel comfortable asking either set for advice on most topics (finances, children, home repair, work, etc.). If it's something important we'll usually ask both sets of parents even though their advice is almost always the same. If it's something we're not comfortable discussing with our parents/family we'll turn to google.
