Gosh the power of the internet. Somehow I feel like I'm cheating my kid by telling him there IS a Santa and also by NOT doing Elf on the Shelf!
"Hearing" reindeer on the roof once when I was a kid was such an exciting moment of my childhood. I eventually grew out of the Santa thing, but part of me still believes! 
Any other Santa's helpers here?

We will!!! I LOVED the magic of Santa when I was little and want to give that to my children!!!
But we won't be doing the Elf on the Shelf... that's creepy to me, haha.

No elf though. Too commercial. My mom made us believe in elves too, but we never actually saw them.

I will be doing it one day when I have an LO. I think having beliefs in santa, faeries, magic, ect is all a happy and healthy part of childhood.

For what it's worth, my parents let us believe in Santa and when I eventually outgrew it I never felt cheated or lied to. I'm not emotionally scarred at all

Absolutely! Santa, Rudolph, the whole kit and caboodle. We used to drive by the local hospital and my parents would tell me that the red light at the top was Rudolph guiding Santa's sled. I was never upset when I realized that Santa wasn't an actual person.

Yes! I was always scared of actually visiting with Santa though, so I hope M isn't like that. But I loved the magic of Santa.

I totally thought we would be super into Santa, but my husband told me this weekend that he's not sure if he wants to do Santa with our kids. We are hoping to figure out a compromise, but at least we don't have to worry about it this year (or next year, more than likely - they'll only be 8 months old by Christmas 2014).

Me me me! Oh man, I loved Santa and the mystery! My parents would even ring jingle bells as they were putting the presents under the tree while Sis and I were leaning against the door trying to hear him (we were too scared to try to see him though, luckily for my parents)
I'm going to do the Elf too, but nothing crazy where he's making messes, just sitting on a new shelf every morning (and probably not even moving him til she's 3)

We are! LO is too young to get it (16 months), but she's definitely getting some goodies from Santa this year. Not on board with EoaS, though-- he's creepy and I hate the concept of it.

We are soooo definitely doing Santa, I'm so excited for all the excitement it will bring her! I'm actually writing her letters to Santa (until she's old enough to write her own) and will keep them to give to her when she has kids of her own. LOVE Christmas!

Yes! There is nothing more magical than waking up on Christmas morning to see that Santa came. I can't wait until he is old enough to understand!

We are!! I looove santa. We aren't doing santa pics this year because a) it's not in the budget and b) I find mall santas creepy but I love love Santa. This year we aren't doing it up, since she's 5 mos, but next year we'll put out the cookies and all that good stuff. I can't wait!

We will be! Since Lo is 14 months I just write on the labels that the presents are from mum/dad but when she's bigger/understands, we'll write santa on most of them. I loved the magic of believing in santa when I was growing up and want to give my kids the same experience.

I loved the Santa tradition (and all things Christmas for that matter), and we'll carry it on to our kiddos. Like I said on other threads, though, as is age appropriate and as they inquire, we'll probably talk some about how Santa is the spirit of Christmas, not everyone believes in a "real" Santa, but that we can all give to others, keep the real meaning of Christmas alive, etc. But, heck, yes, we're putting some cookies and milk out for the next few years!

Our LO won't be here until March but we fully intend to do Santa! I loooved Santa and his reindeer when I was little. I even remember telling my mom I heard them on the roof (I FULLY believed that I did, lol). I found out he wasn't real pretty early on (7 or so) when I put together the pieces after hearing a comment on the TV. I was pretty upset in the moment but I wouldn't say I'm traumatized for life or anything
ETA: Elf on the Shelf is creepy

Yes, I am still a believer. I love the magical feeling of christmas. There was no better feeling as a child than waking up knowing Santa came!

NOT doing Elf on the Shelf. $30 for a freaking Elf that I then have to go through the effort of posing every single night? No thanks. Im lucky if I remember to wash my face at night.

We definitely will when we have LO's. Like others, I don't remember being pissed off or scarred after I found out Santa didn't exist. I was probably sad, but it must not have been that bad because I really do not remember.
Heck, mum and dad still wrap some presents that say they're from Santa or Mrs Clause.

We always do Santa in my house. The family moto is: "If you don't believe, you don't recieve." I absolutely will ALWAYS do Santa.
ETA: I don't have a LO yet... by "we" I mean my mom and me and the other LOs.....

Team Santa & Elf on the Shelf...I love the magic of Christmas & want to celebrate that as long as we can! We will also teach our child the true meaning of Christmas, it's an important message for our family.

Santa here! While we TTC, my dream was THIS time of the year with my child, all the magic and love and just recreating how much I enjoyed Christmas as a child! She doesn't understand much (she's 2) but she sees Santa on TV and knows it's Christmas. No photos with Santa though, she's scared of people in costumes. (REALLY hope she's over that by the time we make it to Disney!LOL)

We will! Even though I remember finding out and being upset, I remember how magical it all was. I can remember my dad making stomping noises down in the living room while I was falling asleep, haha!
No Elf on a shelf though. I think it's creepy!
