DH is more frugal and buys store brands for almost everything (milk, OTC meds, paper products, etc). He only splurges for frozen fries and needs to have Ore Ida brand!

I am way more frugal. I always look at store brand vs name brand vs sale price. Sometimes the name brand is cheaper if it's on sale.

I'm more frugal-- he doesn't know what he's buying half the time, so he just gets the brands he recognizes.

I am. He thinks he is getting a deal just bc the tag says things are on sale. He has no clue what things actually cost.

DH. There are some store brands I don't prefer, but he buys store brand no matter what.

I let my husband go to the grocery store once and he spent $50 on drinks alone. $50! Needless to say, I now do all the shopping.

My husband decides he needs everything. So he comes back with way too much stuff. That and he takes like an hour to decide on what brand of frozen tots he needs. So he wastes money and time!

We usually balance each other out-- he is willing to buy more expensive items and I wind up buying too many things. I do tend to buy more organic items than him though so perhaps in the end he would spend less.

I'm way more frugal with grocery shopping! He usually is good about getting generic stuff, but he will buy stuff we don't need and doesn't know how to substitute ingredients well if one he needs for a recipe is crazy expensive/we'll never use it again.

I am. I coupon, so I know when things will be cheaper. He'll buy a bag of frozen veggies at regular price, before stocking up when they are 49 cents (coupon an BOGO).

Definitely DH.
In my parents' house it's my mom. She buys store brand soda and my dad haaates it, haha.

Me! I browse the flyers every week and make my grocery list based on what is on sale, sometimes splitting my list between 2-3 grocery stores to get the best prices (they are all within 5 minutes of each other, and my house so the extra gas cost isn't a concern). DH just buys whatever he wants.

Me. He's more picky, and doesn't pay attention to prices as much. But I usually do the shopping.

@MsMini: That's what I do! LOL! I tried meal planning, but it cost too much. Now I cook what's on sale and they like it.

Me. DH has specific brand name grocery requests. I am specific about certain things, but since I buy all the groceries I am more likely to swap my items for cheaper things. The time I bought store brand nuts for DH he refused to eat them. Planters it is!

Me. DH will overbuy if he's not sure how much we'll need, he never buys store brands, and usually throws in a few desserts or snacks that weren't on the list! Fortunately I do most of the grocery shopping!

I am. I always spend more when my DH is with me!

Me. DH never pays attention to sales, buys expensive brands (but randomly store brands on the few things I don't want store brands for like canned tomatoes) and forgets to give the cashier coupons! He also buys himself a lot of convenience snacks like jello packs where we could save a ton by just making the jello ourselves.

I am. I was the one who got him to look for generic brands that are usually cheaper.
