I have more book smarts he has more street smarts. Just like in most aspects of life we balance each other perfectly.

I'm more book smart, but he's more street smart, at least most of he time! lol

He's a rocket scientist, so he definitely has me beat on book smarts. I think we're pretty equally street smart though.
cherry / 235 posts
If I absolutely HAD to pick one or the other, I'm more book smart and he's more street smart.
However, it's really that he and I are different types of book smart and street smart. Example: He is the Math/Science and I am the Reading/Writing/History Facts/Trivia. And then streets - he is the practical measurements, situational, mr-fix-it guy. I am the financially smart one. Lol. We are an odd but perfect balance.

I'm both... buuuuuuut I'm also 5 years older than DH & we're both young so while I was in college DH was still in High School and I just LOVE knowledge (I'm always researching something)... and I've experienced alot more "life" than DH and well most people my age in general. lol

I think we're pretty equal but I might be slightly more book smart. He might be a little more street smart.

I have the books smarts but he definitely has the street smarts.

Ummmm, does it sound totally conceited if I say that I am both? I have more formal education and am all about researching what I am curious about. I also know more about common sense things. Hubs is really smart too though.

I think we both have our strengths and weaknesses.
I am the nerd in the family when it comes to computers and technology.
He knows a lot of music, books, and random facts.
As for IQ, we aren't geniuses but I think our IQs are pretty high. Although, when it comes to the grammar and english department, that is my weakness. For him, that is his strong point. He is far superior than me in the creative writing, art and music department.
As for book smarts, I guess that would be me. Since I went to school for science and my current career. Although, my tendency to forget information may make me seem less book smart.
As for street smarts, I think we both have that.

This is one thing I love about him, he wins in both categories.

I would say that we are pretty equal in book smarts, but he may outmatch me a tiny bit. We have very similar IQs but know more about different subject areas.
I am FAR more street smart than he is.

Hmmm, he might be both! I would say he's most likely more street smart than I am. As for book smart, we each have our strengths. He's a math/science guy, but I have him beat in anything relating to the arts/literature/social sciences.

I think we're pretty much matched on the book smart.... he might have an edge on me. But he's definitely more street smart (as much as I hate to admit it).

Street Smart: Definitely my husband. I am a little/a lot naive.
Book Smart: We each have our own area of expertise. I mean, I can't tell you anything about physics or how things work or writing code, but I know a lot about literature and history!

What about smart smart? My husband is just straight up intelligent withotut trying. Id say he's overall slightly more intelligent than him but I keep him on his toes lol
persimmon / 1341 posts
I win on the book smarts. I love to read and always want to be learning about something new. He wins, hands down, on the street smarts/everyday living type of things. I'm constantly amazed by the things he is so knowledgeable about. He has taught me so much about things like cars.

I think I am more book smart, and street smart.... It depends on the area. He is pretty street smart though

DH is definitely more street smart than I am and I'm ok to admit that. But I think I am more book smart though.

@Nskillet: What's the difference between book smart and smart smart?
@oliviaoblivia: You're only allowed to plead the fifth if you're guilty! So I guess you're saying, you're guilty of being smarter than your SO?
nectarine / 2019 posts
I am more book smart. I also understand what Nskillet is saying. I'm also more smart smart. I know a lot about nothing important as well as your standard book smart.
DH however is way more street more.

I read that kids get their book smarts from their moms. Luckily I'm way more book smart than the hubs. He's more street smart though.

@MrBee smart smart is just generally being more intelligent than most people around you. My husband is that kinda guy. Also, I read my original post back and about died laughing about the irony of who is more intelligent when my post was unreadable!!!

Similar on both counts, I think. Though most of his vocabulary comes from silent reading. "Paradigm" is "peridiggum" instead of "paradime" in his pronunciation. Mine were always used in discussion with my parents.
