Someone mentioned the word “glue” in a post and it got me thinking.
Many families have one person who is the “glue”... they keep the peace, stay in touch with everyone and even make sure that the family gets together for dinners and get togethers. If something happens to that person, the family often drifts apart... they are truly the key to keep the family close.
Looking at your siblings and your parents... are you the “glue” in your family? If not, who is?

My grandma is without a doubt. Since buying our home and being married I've noticed that we may end up being the glue when she is gone because our house always seems to be the gathering, hangout, and meetup spot with my family. I'm just glad that it seems like we will stay close even when we will sadly lose her.

As a family, we aren't that close. We are really independent, but I would have to say my older sister is the 'glue'. She's more social then the rest of us. Even though, she's busy with her own life and family, she always finds time to chat with us and to break the silence sometimes.

Our immediate family is very close and tight-knit.
But for my extended family, I've become the glue. As the eldest daughter of the eldest son of the family (only my dad's side of the family is in the US), I've been the one to keep the drama out and stay in touch with my aunts/uncles. The relationships I have with my cousins are smooth and easy-going, they're like my siblings and I cherish each relationship I have; the only time it gets hard is when the adults have drama and I'm the one stuck in the middle trying to maintain the balance.
We've been hosts for Thanksgiving for the last few years because of the sole reason that our house is neutral ground for all the adults in my family.

Hmm... I guess my mom would be the glue - she's the one that invites us over for dinner and keeps my brother and informed of when they are visiting grandparents so we can join them and stuff. I wish I was more glue-like... but I'm terrible at that kind of stuff. Just tell me when to show up and I will, but planning... not happening.

I'd have to say my aunt is the glue, even though my side of the family is tiny and doesn't require munch "gluing". For my DHs family, I used to be the glue until we moved away 
Kind of sad that the daughter-in-law kept things stuck together...and makes me feel guilty that we moved across the country to be closer to my family.
