I've noticed that in a number of my friend's relationships, the woman is the alpha. I guess the times they are a-changin'.
Who is the alpha in your relationship: you or your SO?

Who is the alpha in your relationship: you or your SO?

Oh, I am, for sure. I definitely get that from my mom, who's definitely the boss of my dad. I think most of the women my age are the alphas in their relationships too.

It's probably 45/55 with the hubby taking the lead. He's more particular about things while I'm more laid back so we general default to him on big decisions. Although, if there's something I'm passionate about, I get my way 99% of the time :).

We are extremely even which is great. I can be domineering if I'm givin room, but DH will challenge me right back and tell me I'm being a biyatch if necessary : ) It works because we both completely trust eachother's opinions...

Guess I'll be the first to say that DH is definitely the alpha. It is actually my first relationship where this is the case and I like it.

What's the criteria? Is it who's more bossy or who brings home the bacon...because the answer would be different!

My husband is pretty lax and lets me make a lot of decisions (I am sort of bossy =X ) but in situations where he has a certain opinion, he will fight me tooth and nail on it! I guess it's 70/30?

Ha. Me, by far. I have had to learn to let him do things when he really wants to!!

For the most part, I'm the alpha. Every now and then, though, he'll take the lead, so to speak. I'd say it's 80/20.

I don't think we have and "alpha". We trade off pretty seamlessly. We spend pretty much 24-7 together, so I don't think it would work if one person was always in charge.

We are both really laid back. I probably have a slight edge only because I'm more impatient about getting things done but generally it depends on the situation. Sometimes neither one of us wants to be the boss!

Majority of the time, I'm the alpha. But sometimes, he'll take over and I'll step down.

Bossy=me. Bacon bringer=husband. So in the way you meant I'm hands down the alpha.

I think I'm in the minority but my husband is definitely the head honcho in our house. We're pretty old fashioned and traditional (biblically speaking) so those are the roles we're comfortable with. That's not to say there aren't some areas I'm "in charge" of like grocery shopping. I'm pretty strict about when I go, what I buy, etc. I also make the calls on things like insurance since I'm a little stronger and more patient in dealing with those types of things.

I think we are actually well-balanced. We both know we can't always get our way, and there is a lot of compromising going on. This is a stark change from the long-term relationships we each came out of before we met--he was the alpha in his, and I was in mine. So you can imagine we butted heads a lot at first, hah!
