I know this is all about perspective, but I think we rent a "small" house. It's probably 11-1200 sq. ft. It's fine for us right now, but the bedrooms are small enough that setting up a nursery with two cribs was a bit challenging.
ETA: I think if the master bedroom was a little smaller and there was more room in the other bedrooms, that would help. There's also a big space in the kitchen that is just empty. I wish their was a big island there to create more counter space and storage. If we owned it, we would definitely add something like that.

We have a small apartment. It's advertised as a 2-br/1bath but the second bedroom could only fit a twin bed. I think for square footage it's between 650/750 maybe? It's great for LO--right now we have a loveseat, a large pack n play, a bookshelf, and her dresser in there with room to move around. Our room is the biggest in the apartment.

There are a few changes that would make it better: if the kitchen/living room were one open space. Right now our kitchen is separate and down the hall, I'd love to be able to keep an eye on LO and participate in family stuff while cooking.

The bathroom is tiny, I'd make it a little bigger, they could have taken some space from the master. And the apartment needs a paint job! We are debating painting, even though we've been here for 1 year and a half and it's a rental--the paint is the cheapest chalky paint. We saw another apartment for rent in our building that had a different (and much nicer) paint color, so I want to ask them what the paint/color is and use that so that we won't have to paint it back when we leave.

I'm in the process of making our space work for us. We have a below market apartment in a neighborhood a lot of people are flocking to and in a great school district. We plan to stay here until we can afford to buy, which probably won't be for at least 2-3 years.

We do. 944 sq. Feet. It helps that we have an attic for storage and a yard for our dog. But I miss a dining room--that's my husband's home office.

We live in an open floor plan ranch right now. The living area is about 1000 sq ft and then we have a 500 sq ft of additional space in our finished basement, which we don't really use except for laundry. I loooove this house but we are starting to outgrow it with DS and are looking to move this spring/summer to a 2 story home! I need my bedroom to be more than 5 ft away from the kitchen And we desperately need more than 1 bathroom!

We live in a small house 2bd 1bth. Maybe like 800 to 900sq ft. The rooms are a nice size and each room has a walk in closet but that's pretty much all for storage. We can't store anything outside. I miss having a table to eat at. We use tv trays to eat. For us three plus my baby puppy it's perfect but we have my MIL and her dog staying with us right now and it's starting to feel small.

We are in a 1240sq ft 2 bed 2 bath apt, but there is a lot of wasted space because we have a windy hallway from the front door to the main apartment. The master bathroom is also way too big--would have liked more of that space in the living room! I do love having 2 bathrooms though, and the master has 2 sinks in it--that has stopped so many fights!

Our house is 1,445 sq ft (3 bed, 2 bath) and sizing wise, it's perfect for us! But storage wise - no bueno. There's practically none! We don't even have a master closet. Just two small closets, similar to what you'd find in a guest bedroom.

Prior to that, we lived in an apt that was 650 sq ft. So easy to clean!! And everything was RIGHT there when you turned around.

We live in 1100 sq. ft. I think it's laid out fairly well, but I'd love to knock out the wall between the living room and kitchen to make it seem more open and bigger.

Ours is a 2 bedroom, but just over 1200 sq ft. All of the rooms are spacious, BUT I would prefer slightly smaller rooms for more closet space. That's an area where our place really sucks.

We have a wide entry way, but not coat closet. WHYY. And constructing a coat closet there would require HOA approval and a city permit. UGH. We can add an Ikea wardrobe or something, but it really isn't the same.

Our apartment is a one bedroom, around 600 square feet.

We live in a 900sq ft home but it's laid out amazingly. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and an entire room devoted to pantry! I also have a great kitchen with lots of counter space. We don't have a ton of storage so it keeps our belongings to a reasonable amount, but i have to say I've really never felt our home was too small and plan to have 4+ kids in this home.

Our apartment is around 700sq feet I think. 2 small bedrooms, one tiny bathroom, an open layout for the living room/kitchen, and a large porch-deck. I'd love a third bedroom and a half-bath.

We have a 900sq ft apt and it's a good size for us. I wouldn't mind a small extra bedroom/office/den or even just a big closet for storage. Right now our master is storage and it's constantly messy and cluttered because we had so many boxes. Things like my craft, sewing stuff, books, sheet music, violin, and old photos/albums. I just don't have anywhere to put them like we did in our last place.

Otherwise I love our apartment, for an apartment anywhere. We overlook a park, so it's a beautiful view with great natural light on one side of the apt (the LR, dining and part of the kitchen, which is what matters most!). It's very open concept, which I like. The LR, dining and kitchen is one big room. It's nice that J can play in the LR while I'm making dinner and I can see him.

The only other downside is it's not soundproof - so I have to be quiet during J's naps, and we hear the neighbors all the time. I'm sure they hear us too - and I'm not fond of that.

Oh and one last thing - we have to walk all the way to the other end of the building for laundry and it's $1 per load. I'd love an in-unit washer/dryer, even if it was just in a small closet!

We are just moving into 1100 sf 2 bed 2 bath and I love it! It feels huge to me coming from 750. The windows are huge with lots of natural light, very clean and modern. I honestly love it and can live here a long time. I love being able to walk to everything.

The lr is a little noisy from traffic so I wouldn't mind it being a bit soundproofed.

We have a small space...at least it feels like it!

We are in a three bedroom, one (tiny) bath house. It is 1200 square feet.

Between having two kids and a dog, it certainly feels cramped! We have a small dining area, a living room with one couch, and a decently sized kitchen. Three small bedrooms and a small bathroom.

I don't really mind the small space that much, but having no storage and one bathroom is what really drives me nuts. Maybe the key is just getting rid of more stuff?

Our rental is just about the same size as your apartment. The bedrooms are pretty small.

We're moving to a place that's 1500 sq ft...not much bigger, but more room in the bedrooms and a bigger master bath.

We're in a 700sf townhouse. 2 bedrooms but I wish it had a slightly bigger kitchen and a little nook for an office.
DS's bedroom is small but it's fine for him.

We're renting a roughly 850-square foot 2 bed/1 bath apartment. It's fine for just the 2 of us and we might be able to make it work with an infant, but anything more than that would be too crowded.

The main issue is lack of storage space - there are only two closets, one in each bedroom, and they are small! There's no coat closet anywhere or anything. Then, the layout is a bit inconvenient. The kitchen/dining area/living room are basically a string of rooms, with each bedroom off to the side. We have a door leading into what we use as the living room, and a back door that leads into the kitchen. The middle room, which we use as the dining room, would actually make the most sense as a living room, because it's wider and more spacious and gets more light, BUT then we'd be using what's now the living room as the dining room, and it'd be weird to have the front door opening right into the dining room. The last real issue is the kitchen space - it's a very narrow galley kitchen we hardly any counter space.

I don't really have any complaints about the size of the bedrooms, so that's good, at least!
