Who pays the bills... and who makes the investment decisions?

For the most part, my DH does. At least he is in charge of making sure all the bills are paid on time and keeping track of our spending. But last night we had to tip all of our building staff and I was definitely closely involved in deciding the amounts, lol! My DH is so generous and always wants to overtip people and I had to show him that if he does that for 29 people, well there goes our savings..

I manage the money, husband helps with the budget. He works at a non profit so he has no access to bank/credit card sites so it's just easier for us. We decide where all the money goes together though and I just send it off Investing, same.

He currently pays the mortgage and all of the house bills because they are all in his name. When we bought the house, he purchased it in his name since I still had a house in my name. Less mess. He will still send out the payments, but they will all come from our joint account. We pay our cars separately but that will be from our joint account soon, too. We do manage our investments separately.

DH pays all the bills but all decisions are joint.

I manage the daily money and bills, and my husband takes care of all of our investments, retirement, etc.

i pay the bills and keep track of our expenses. investments - he does the actual trading, but we both decide how we'll invest the money.

The accountant in me is sad to admit this, but DH makes most of the financial decisions. We don't have joint checking accounts yet (it's on our to-do list) but we kind of pay our own separate bills right now. But when it comes to who pay what, who puts money in savings......he figures all of that out.....I just can't see it right when it comes to our personal stuff.

He is the money manager, as in "we can afford this" or "we need to invest money here", I am the bookkeeper, only because he NEVER remembers to check the mail, so bills would never get paid if I left it up to him.

He does. I have no interest in it and he does. Of course I'm a part of investment decisions, but usually that's him saying what he wants to do and me saying ok. I trust him. Yes, I'm aware that I'm in big trouble if something ever happens to him!

Me...I hate it though. I pay all the bills and all that. I am more organized than he is so it works better that way. We try to make financial decisions together though, but the day to day stuff is all me.

All of our bills, except for our one credit card, auto-pay out of our joint account. He typically pays the credit card bill. I make all of the investment decisions. We "discuss" investment decisions, but those discussions are usually me saying we should do x and him saying okay

I pay all the bills, but we make decisions about what to do with our money together. I'd like to move the bills to auto-pay though, lately pregnancy brain has made me forget a few of them!

I pay the bills (from the joint account), he makes the lion's share of the money, and he makes the financial decisions. I just don't care about money beyond making ends meet, so it's better for it to be his call.

We set up our budget together and he pays the bills and handles the investments. When we first met I was way better at handling money than he was so I handled everything. Now we are on the same page so I have no issue letting him handle everything.

Me. We don't have a lot of money though, so pretty much I take what money we have and pay the bills!

I budget and invest. Both of us pay the bills from our joint account, it just depends who opens the mail that day. I actually picked the mutual funds for his 401(k)! But my degree and job are in finance/accounting, so he just trusts me since I know more about it than him.

My husband handles it all but we make the decisions together. We just had a budget update last night to discuss goals and what we need to do to achieve them.

We have separate accounts, but DH pays utilities and most of the rent. I pay for food and most household incidentals. In terms of investment, we have our own accounts, but I would say DH knows more so I ask him for advice.

I do, and we both prefer that arrangement. I am kind of obsessed, actually, with insanely detailed spreadsheets, forecasts, etc. That's what I started doing after our wedding was over. Soon, I am sure, I will turn to researching baby gear.

My husband does it all. He consults me on it, but he over thinks and researches everything to the point that I get bored and tell him to do whatever he wants.

I am the bill payer/ money manager. We make roughly the same salary and don't have joint finances, so I manage our various accounts. We use a joint credit card for all purchases (for points) so that's easy to track, and then I go in and pay the remaining bills (mortgage, HOA, student loans) and manage how much we put into savings each month. I like this stuff and am the better saver, so it became my job sort of by default.

DH pays most of the bills and definitely handles all our investments...he works in finance, so it seems like a natural task for him, lol.
