Bee and I are both ok on about 7 hours of sleep. But I definitely nap more often than her! So I definitely need more sleep.

Definitely me, hands down! I credit his military training in regards to him being able to function on little sleep. Thank goodness too because he has done probably more night wake-ups over the past year than I have!

Me. I need about 10 hours to function well, he wakes up after seven or eight.

Me!!! I miss the days where I can sleep till noon. I don't think I can physically do that anymore. So sad.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
DH without a doubt. He still takes naps all the time. Did that before R was here. He thinks he can just nap during her morning nap. I told him he is in for a rude awaking in a couple months when she goes to one nap a day.

Me! Even with my medication, I still need more sleep than DH to function normally
pomelo / 5509 posts
Me! I need about 10 hours per night and can easily sleep 12 if left to my own devices. DH can function just fine on 5 or so hours.

I don't know. I don't think either of has met our quota for a few years. We don't remember what it's like not wishing for a nap all the time, lol. I'd say I probably need more sleep, 10 hours would be amazing, but I don't think I could even sleep that long at a stretch anymore, if given the chance. He probably does best on at least 8 hours.

Me, hands down. DH can go on 3 hours of sleep if he has to, there's no way I could function.
nectarine / 2358 posts
It depends on the week, though usually DH naps on his days off. It's kind of his thing. I shudder to think what he will be like as an old man! lol
pomegranate / 3113 posts
He does. He gets really cranky if he hasn't slept enough, whereas I can usually keep myself in check. The first couple weeks of LO's life, he got an average of 8 hours of sleep per night (interrupted, but still...) and was complaining incessantly about how tired he was. I, operating on two hours if I was lucky, was about to kill him if I heard it one more time.

He sleeps less than me during the week but sleeps way more on weekends, where as I sleep about 8-9 hours all days. He definitely "needs" it more though since he gets cranky and has sleep issues (apnea).
papaya / 10343 posts
He does. I think I'm less cranky when tired and also I'm a night person whereas he is a morning person… which means I'm used to going to bed an hour or more after him and waking up at the same time (life is not built for night owls).

Me-no questions asked. His years as a 24/7 on site manager trained him to function on very little sleep (or food, etc). I'm a princess!!
persimmon / 1050 posts
Definitely me. I need like 9 - 10 hrs every night & take naps quite often. He only needs 7 - 8 hrs & only naps if he's sick.
nectarine / 2973 posts
Me for sure! I also need more uninterrupted sleep than him. He's fine getting like 4 hours of sleep at night and then making up for it by taking a nap later that day. But for me having at least 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is ideal. Naps really don't make me feel more rested.

Hands down, me. He can function on only a few hours of sleep and a can of Coke. I am a zombie unless I get at least 7 hours.
pomelo / 5093 posts
Drastically me. We realized fairly early that the infant lack of sleep was really harming me. When my daughter night weaned, my husband cheerfully took over night time duties. He's always just needed less sleep than me - he's just fine on 6 hours of sleep, where I'm hardly functional.
Our daughter has the same low sleep needs as he does. Which is irritating for us, but will serve her well as an adult.

My husband! He is a major sleeper and can't function without his sleep. This is why I am the SAHM and do all the night checks and he doesn't but earns the moola.
bananas / 9227 posts
I'd like more sleep, but I think DH actually needs it more. Not because he's working and I'm currently a SAHM, but because I think he may be suffering from sleep apne.
nectarine / 2771 posts
I need more sleep overall, but I can take naps to increase my hours. DH needs less sleep, but has to have it all in one chunk as he does not nap well. Guess who did night duty
honeydew / 7968 posts
Me, for sure. He can last on much less sleep. I can't function when I'm too tired.
pomegranate / 3105 posts
Hubs can sleep 12 hours if he gets the opportunity. He's like a teenager...sleep alllllllll day on the weekends.
I am good with about 7 hours.

Me, hands down. He is a morning person & doesn't get cranky like me if he hasn't gotten sleep. Unfortunately he gets more than me since I BF.
pomegranate / 3212 posts
Me for sure! Before baby I was epic. He's always only been able to master 7 hours or so. Weakling.
papaya / 10570 posts
I need *more* sleep to function - I need at least 10 hours a night to feel human, whereas DH is good after 8 - but I cope better with too little sleep than he does. He is a total Mr Crankypants after too little sleep!
nectarine / 2932 posts
Me me me. He could take 5 or 6 hours. He always tells me I could be a professional sleeper. It's my hobby I slept 11 1/2 hours the other night. Granted, we don't have any children. I'm sure that'll change.
bananas / 9899 posts
Me for sure. I like I go to bed no later than 11:30, and DH likes to stay up until at least 1.
squash / 13208 posts
Me!!! I need 9 hours per night
DH runs on 4-6!
I think my DS takes after him!
