Yes, we took a bunch of pics soon after her birth. My husband took most of them - her on the scale, her on my chest, and then once we were a bit "settled" and immediate family visited, we had some pics of them with the baby and of course my husband with her.

Our hospital also had a photography service that came around the next day to take some professional shots which was nice.

DH took pictures during the birth and the nurses took a couple of us after the baby was born.

I'm wondering this, too, as both of our families live out of state and probably won't be here for the birth

We had a c-section, DH took most of the pictures and I believe our nurse took a couple too before they took LO down to the NICU.

The nurses offered but my MIL did.

We didn't - a couple of relatives took pics without asking and yeah, those got deleted. I had an emergency C-section, and seeing pictures of me with the hairnet-like thing on my head, looking like total crap and obviously in immense pain because I was in the recovery room and the meds were wearing off just takes me back to how panicked I was about it and how mad I was at the nurse in the recovery room for handling my pain level so poorly.

But if you want it done, just keep in mind that right after the baby is born the nurses are going to be pretty busy with the placenta, checking out LO, possibly stitching you up or giving you a shot or pain meds, etc. Once things calm down a bit I'm sure they'd be willing to take some pictures for you, but if you want some right when baby is born you might want to have someone else in the room.
