Here's how it works. For ONE week we are not allowed to buy anything frivolous.
This means no Starbucks trip, no candy bar, no bottle of soda at the gas station, no cute unnecessary outfits for LO, etc.
Since life happens we'll allow buying of lunch ONE day.
I tried doing this about 2 weeks ago and failed epic-ally!
Who's with me? I'm thinking next week... first week of June; Monday - Sunday?

I'm in! I normally am able to do this! Actually I haven't went out for lunch in Weeks!!! But I think I am going to today!

I'm so pathetic .. I can't even attempt this because I would epically fail the first day - no question. Mostly on the food. I eat out for coffees, lunch almost daily and dinner at least 3X a week. I am contracted out different places every day so I dont really have anywhere to "keep" my lunch in a cool place or heat it up. It really adds up.

i am down with that too. i'm back to making my own coffees, but i need to break my muffin purchase habit. Will you start a thread next week?

@rachiecakes: make your own coffee! That's what we do. 
@Reese: can you buy a small igloo cooler and keep it in your car with ice packs? Sandwiches, pasta salads? Also a Thermos to make a pot of coffee at home and keep it in your car? Even cutting out the first 2 cups will help! Not talking necessarily for next week but in the future.
@Freckles: Yes! I'll start a thread on Monday so we can all check in! Mine has been chocolate chip cookies and weekly trips to Starbucks to catch up w a old co-worker!

oooh, I would love to do this! But I need to look for a dress to go to a wedding. Does that still count? Maybe I'll squeeze that purchase in this weekend!

@regberadaisy: Yeah I could totally do the coffee in the morning. It is way too hot right now to use the ice packs for lunch. I tried and it failed. In the winter it is much easier as things stay cold naturally. Fall isn't too bad either..the summer is awful - especially with my schedule.
I will semi-try this .... with coffee and frivolous spending (stop going to homesense!)

Starting Monday works perfect! We are taking our first road trip this weekend and I KNOW we will be eating out the whole time, buying snacks/drinks and doing fun things so there's no way I could start now. I can't wait to start Monday though!! This will be so good for me, and the wallet since we will spend too much this weekend

I think I will do my own challenge that is in the "spirit" of your challenge. I just know I will have to spring for take out at least once next week for dinner. I think I will just pledge not to buy anything from the vending machine at work and not to do any online shopping for LOs.

I want to do this, but I'm not sure how it'll work since we are in the middle of moving and don't have our kitchen set up. Plus I need to buy odds and ends for the apartment. maybe if it starts Monday it would be fine though...I will give it a shot!

@IRunForFun: You just need to do it like the coffee commercials and drink coffee out of a tea pot and/or sugar dish.
