I have been to 3 play gym birthday parties now and there has been barely any food for us parents to eat. I know it is some package deal you buy but why do people not provide parents food? It is lunch time and I have to spend
2.5 hours there running after my toddler. I want food! End rant.

I haven't been to that many kids parties but the ones I have been to usually had enough (mostly pizza) for the adults as well.

Eek. Huh. I've never been to a kiddie party, but dood. I'd make sure my parent friends were well fed. Kids don't need a lot of food!

My bio didn't provide parent's food at his 6 year oles party to save money. He told us ahead of time so we knew to eat first. But I agree, I had to sit there watching all the kids eating piazza and I wanted some too!

@chopsuey119: yeah, my greatest fear when doing any get together is that people will leave complaining of hunger!
@artbee: all the parents were saying how they were starved and would eat when they got home which would be after 2 pm. I guess now I know to load up on breakfast before these things.

@Andrea: I just went to a 3 year olds party that we didn't get fed at. But it was from 2-4 so I didn't expect to. Still, I would never have a party without food. I think it's the Jew in me, we love to feed people!

Yeah, I don't understand that either. When I throw parties, there's always tons of leftovers for guests to bring home. Nothing ruins a party than having guests leave hungry.

that sucks. Usually at LOs friends' parties there's at least a veggie platter and chips for the adults. Or extra pizza. But even then, DH and I go somewhere to eat afterwards because we are famished!
Our last birthday party for LO was a hit because we had Shake Shack for everyone!

I imagine that some parents are trying to save the expense or hassle? Which I think if you have school-aged kids, you can get away with it, because parents aren't obligated to stay for the whole party. But when they are little ones, the parents are just as much guests as the kids... and as a Nervous Nelly in situations like this, if I were hosting I would be more invested in what the parents thought than the kids!

Wow, that sucks! Most of the kiddie parties I have been to usually have food(kids & adults)and alcohol(when the party is at a friend's house) for the parents!

@Andrea: We considered that, but didn't in the end. So we hired a messenger to pick up the food. We had food from three different places but that was the biggest hit!

@Andrea: I know, I totally agree! Besides the the theme, the other first thing I plan for when throwing LO a bday party is the food! Food is so important to make your guests happy. Too bad some parents don't realize that at these gym parties! So wrong!

This is why Baby Bear's party will be at home and I'll be able to feed everyone. I was just going to let them eat what the kids eat, but never thought about a couple of pizzas for them. Good idea!

i've only been to 2 baby parties this year (ever?) and there was way enough food for all of us. i ate yummily both times.

I understood at some places, you can't bring in other food, so you're stuck using what the place provides.
I prefer to have something for the parents, esp. if it isn't a drop off party.

@looch: I'm sure that is the rule at some places but I think it would be nice to order a few extra pizzas for the parents is all... versus not wanting to take a slice of pizza as you see there are only a few left. And my daughter can eat two slices on her own so I would rather let her have seconds.

I think if you are expecting the parents to stay for the party with their kids then you have to have something for them. Not necessarily a full meal but something!
