My LO used to love bathtime, he never cried and would just sit there and splash and play with toys. Just recently he screams and cries bloody murder and tries to climb out. It's awful. Is this just a phase?

Did you recently transition him from a baby tub to the big tub? Maybe the big space is scary for him?

@mrsaudi: This happened to us too around that time!! We were able to resolve it with a bagful of tricks:

Something must have scared him or does he have a diaper rash or something?
Pretend he is brand new to the bath and re-introduce? (step in with him, reassure, keep hands on him, go slow, etc)

Liv went through the same thing right around that time I think. Could have been 10 months but same situation. We kept at it, got new toys, I bathed with her, and she started liking it again. Never figured out why, just a phase

@eeh: No we haven't switched. He's in a blowup tub, and has been for a few months. Maybe he's ready for the actual tub?

Hmm. Perhaps. Maybe give that a try. Or like someone else mentioned, try some new toys.

We have been doing swim class since 8 weeks, he loves it except for a few weeks after he turned 9 months. He was a little monster, arching his back and screaming at everything we did.
We just kept at it, and after a few weeks he went back to normal again (weekly half-hour classes). My guess is that it was a stage where he felt he could express his dislike and put up a fight to get his way. When we didn't give in, he got over it and went back to being the happy splashing boy.
One thing we have taught him is "all done," this of course can backfire, but has been working well from about 10 months. When he says all done, we switch to a new activity. We use it mainly for playing, eating, and bath time.
